Coaches Q&A with former head coach Mark Schmidt:
Q. What are his strengths at running back?
A. The biggest thing he did last year was he improved every game. He’s smart and a very patient runner. Last year was a breakout year for him and many people didn’t get a real clean shot at him. He did a great job of protecting the ball last year.
His fundamentals on where to go and what to do were exceptional.
He’s a physical guy when he needs to be and not afraid to lower his pad and get the tough yards. That’s where he made a lot of his yards hitting the hole. He’s a guy that doesn’t go down on the first hit.
He has good hands when we throw at him and we ran him out of the wildcat.
Q. If he plays defense this year what are his strengths?
A. His quickness, strength and vision.
Q. What’s he doing in the offseason?
A. He’s a great young man and a hard worker. He has been working hard in the weight room to get bigger, stronger and faster.
