Coaches Q&A with John Truby:
Q. What are his strengths on the offensive line?
A. On the offensive line he can play all three positions. He’s very versatile. He can snap, play guard and he knows every position. He’s a very smart guy.
He does a good job when we run the ball and we want to get him more involved in our run game this year.
His biggest asset is his footwork. He’s never really out of position too much when he’s pass blocking.
Q. What is he doing in the offseason to get better?
A. He’s working hard at everything this offseason and is one of the hardest working players. He had an awesome offseason in the weight room.
Here’s an example, He did 625 on one squat the other day. We didn’t want him to try it again, so we put it down at 405 and all he did it 25 times.
He’s a very powerful kid and he’s getting bigger and stronger.
Q. How much defense will he play this year?
A. We’re going to use him more towards the goal line and in the red zone. He’s a good run stopper.
