Coaches Q&A with Todd Fairlie:

Q. What are his strengths at quarterback?

A. He has a very strong arm and throws a really good ball. He’s a good decision maker and has good feet in the pocket.

He’s an athlete and can move around the pocket to avoid the rush and is comfortable throwing on the run.

He’s a big guy and this year he’s going to run the ball a little more than last year and if he has to lower his shoulder to get the extra yards, he will.

We’re not a team that he’s chasing numbers or records. It’s about taking care of the football and making the right throws and he has done that. He did a good job for us last year making the correct reads and running the team the way its supposed to be run.

Q. What is he doing in the offseason?

AHe’s working out at some of the college camps this offseason. He’s in the weight room four times a week here. He’s working hard to improve on what he did last year.

Q. Final thoughts on Ryan?

A. He really had a great year for us his junior season. He learned a lot when he was the backup his sophomore year and we’re really excited for him his senior season.

He’s our leader this year and is doing a great job this offseason and last year was his first year as a starter.
