Coaches Q&A with Joe Headen:
Q. What are his strengths on defense?
A. This year we’re going to start him at outside linebacker. He can get off the edge and is a good tackler in space. He’s very athletic.
We’re going to do a lot of the same things we did last year with him and move him around on defense.
He’s a very versatile player and has a high motor.
He’s around the ball every play, is a good tackler and because he’s a good tackler we use him on special teams. He has quick feet and hands. He moves well and has a knack for making big plays.
Q. What are his strengths on offense?
A. We’re going to line him up at the h-back position. He’s a strong physical guy that can block for us. We’re going to play him at tight end in our double tight end set and he’s going to play some fullback for us.
This year we’re going to line him up in our pistol position at tailback as well. So, just like on defense we’re going to move him around on offense.
He has soft hands and is a good runner and blocker. He moves very well and is light on his feet.
He’s a guy that is going to wear you down.
Q. Final thoughts on Dominic?
A. First off, He’s a great kid. I am so proud of him as a top-notch student. He’s seventh in his class.
He has really worked on his overall game this offseason.
You can ask any kid on our team and they will say Dominic is the hardest working kid on our team. He leads by example and is a good leader.
