Coaches Q&A with Matt Ortega:
Q. What are his strengths at tight end?
A. His strength is his athleticism. He’s quick. He can run and jump. Another asset is he’s a great blocker. He has good hands.
This year he’s going to be a big part of the passing game. With his size he’s a big target, especially near the goal line.
Q. What are his strengths on defense?
A. He will be a starter on the line unless we move a couple guys around and we may put him at outside linebacker? That’s one of the questions we have about our defense this year.
When he plays defensive end, pass rushing is his strength. He’s a good run stopper too. He’s very strong player.
We have no doubt that he can play outside linebacker. For us as a team that may be the best thing for us if he can play outside linebacker and Jay can play safety.
We’re excited to see what he can do this year after being in our system for a full year now.
College offers: As of 7/24, he has offers from Cincinnati, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple, Toledo, USF, Virginia and West Virginia
