Coaches Q&A with Mike Marichak:
Q. What kind of leader is he?
A. A lot of kids look up to him. He has football smarts. He has played football all his life. He makes everybody around him better and works hard on and off the field. He is a great kid. He likes to lead by example and is like a coach on the field.
He’s not a vocal kid, but he can be if he has to be. He is a real mature kid. Going into his senior year he’s only 16.
Q. What are his strengths as a runner?
A. He has great vision and is very athletic. When he hits that crease he’s gone and has breakaway speed. If there isn’t anything there he can make something out of nothing. He has that ability to make big plays.
Q. Do you like to move him around?
A. Yes, there are times we may move him out to receiver if we see a mismatch. He plays quarterback in the wildcat.
Q. How much will he play defense for you this year?
A. We are going to play him in spots on the defensive side. If we don’t have to play him on defense, we won’t.
