Excitement in Berwick is building by the day in anticipation of the up and coming season. Crispin Field will have a new look as Berwick will play their home games on turf for the first time.

The Bulldogs play against two perennial powers in the preseason (Bethlehem Liberty and Central Dauphin). Berwick will christen their new digs with a meeting from the Hurricanes on August 21 (11 am). The 2008 PIAA Class AAAA State Champions finished last year with a 6-5 record. The following week, the Dawgs will get a glimpse at one of the state’s top offensive linemen in Artie Rowell when Central Dauphin comes calling on August 27 (6 pm). The 6’2, 296-pound guard has verbally committed to Pittsburgh.

Gary Campbell Jr enters his fifth season as head coach of the Bulldogs. Campbell needs one win to become the fifth most winningest coach in school history (passing Adam Sieminski). Junior Jared Pierce will get lots of reps at the quarterback position. Berwick also returns defensive ends Roy Dennis and Casey Davenport. Dennis is a high-motor guy. Seems like he always around the ball. At 6’3, 240-pounds Davenport is an elite athlete when healthy. He may be an even better tight end prospect. He has good hands and he is bruising blocker.
