  1. The MVC is bad football. The LVC was stupid to let the 2 Allentown schools leave for the MVC it gave all those MVC teams a win. Stroudsburg and PV would 5-5/4-6 in the LVC.

  2. @mark, you say Scranton is underestimated; fact is they have played 7 AAA teams. There, you have your answer.

Eastern Conference? Really? That’s what you come up with, Eastern Conference? Really? A bunch of .500 teams who should be at home this time of year?

Scranton will get their chance to prove it on the field; good luck.

  3. MP/DTown,

The Coatesville coach is Matt Ortega. Turned York-William Penn into a legit playoff contender & coached the Bearcats’ first and only 500-point scoring team in 2008 (530 points in 12 games). He’s 67-31 overall between WP & Coatesville. Definitely one of the top coaches in Chester County.

I am used to getting comments/criticism on these rankings (have heard from Coatesville, Tamaqua, Stroudsburg, Catasauqua, Schuylkill Valley, Berks Cath., D2 posters, etc. just in this season alone), but I never really thought about needing to ease up. After reading your comment, I can see where you are coming from and how it comes off that way as needing to do so. Thanks for the observation.

  4. I dont know why every body under estimates Scranton, they beaten 2 AAA playoff teams 1 AAAA playoff team and AAA and AAAA playing in the eastern conference. Have you seen them play, they have great team speed on defence and play makers all over on offence i said it before it going to tkae a very good team playing at the top of it game to beat Scranton

  5. CVILLE FAN, Bro I’m totally w/ you on this one to a certain point. Put it to you you this way. As you can tell by my handle I played at two of the schools, a few years back, that each handed you losses this year. I attended both games this season, in the ville no less. You guys lost to a, once in a blue moon, sub-par Malvern team weak one. Then a few weeks later lost to a D-town East team on a shaky call,at best, last play of the game. That’s coming from a HUGE East fan. I also got to witness your Raiders take apart D-town West a bit later in the season. What I see is a definite work in progress. Big time. If I’m correct in what I think I’m seeing. The Red Raiders should make ALLOT of noise in these up coming playoffs. I myself wouldn’t want to face you right now. Tons of weapons, a huge line, and very well coached. I’m not sure of the new coaches name. I know he’s from York, but he looks to soon be having Coatesville back to where Dominick had them. Josh, Please ease up on my Chest-mont brother. I know your doing your job. You do it well. I enjoy and respect your opinion. Always have bro. I think it’s great to see the emotion you bring out of people. Take it as a compliment. I LOVE high school football. Cant wait to see what the post season brings us!!!!

  6. Stroudsburg had several key injuries for the Northampton and week 1 with a complete new look team is a toss up. Also watch the whitehall scrimmage if you want to go back that far. With that being said, There are 3 MVC teams in districts and 1 in Eastern Conference. The LVC had the benefit of a bye week for years beating on Allen/Dieruff so they join the MVC. That should be held against them? Besides Del Val, and abington heights, who did Scranton beat?

  7. markd , Scranton would get Del Val or Whitehall. Del Val’s #1 Receiver/DB, FB and Nose guard were not playing. They are back @ 100%. Tough to beat the same twice in the same season.

  8. M. Robertson
Wow it’s amazing how you have already counted EASTON out!! Just remember every time the other RB stepped in he’s rushed for well over a hundred plus yards with mutiple td’s. Defense will win this game!

  9. @Mark D The winner of Easton/Parkland would play the winner of PV/Stroudsburg the bracket looks like this.

    1. Scranton
    8. ESS

    4. Del Val
    5. Whitehall

    2. Stroudsburg
    7. PV

    3. Easton
    6. Parkland

  10. CVILLE FAN, lighten up; everyone in SEPA knows Coatesville but to be candid they are not a top 10 team statewide. At least, not yet.

So, get off the guys back and let it rest; it all gets played out on the field.

  11. @Mark R if all the top seed win beside Easton that would i believe put Parkland @ Scranton. believe me that no walk in the park and no way a mercy rule game !!!!!

  12. ranking are opinions nothing more nothing less the playoff will settle who was right and who was wrong that the fun of it all.so it coatesville smokes teams in the playoff you can tell josh i told you so if they get blowen out i hope your man enought to admit he was right good luck

  13. @CVILLE FAN,

Win the D1 playoff and you’ll be ranked in the top 10 in the state…OK?!?!?

In two weeks you’ll probably not be heard from again…that’s my guess.

  14. Central Dauphin is getting a lot of press because they were state champs last year and return key skill players. I heard Issah is out for the season…with him out the Rams cannot and will not compete for a district or state championship. I like Harrisburg in that spot….

  15. Parkland probably should be in the top 10 in the state. They improved vastly. Easton lost their all every back in Shane Simpson for the season. Although the Rovers play good D, they don’t have the capability of explosive plays on offense. I do not believe they can sustain long drives against a tough Parkland rush D…

Elder is banged up for Parkland…ha..if they were to beat Easton the following week should be a mercy rule win…giving him a chance to rest. Parkland has 2-3 really explosive backs…very excited to see them in the playoffs.

  16. Cville Fan,

It’s not that I can’t answer your question. I just don’t feel like it. Because no matter if I gave you an honest answer, it wouldn’t be good enough for you. You think that because I didn’t answer your question means that I can’t answer it. Totally the opposite. I just don’t feel like wasting the time to type an in-depth response to someone who will only cherry-pick what he or she wants to see or thinks should be there.

  17. Josh Funk I guess you come up with these rankings. I asked a question I didn’t get a answer to.. How is CD ranked? They loss to CD East. CVILLE beat CD East? I’m not upset just asking a question that you CAN’T ANSWER!!! Dan I guess you didn’t see what was written..May be you can explain to me ?? Can one of you guys let me know???? NO CAPS HAPPY??????

  18. Coatesville has a very nice squad that should make lots of noise in the upcoming D1 playoffs. Be happy with that; it’s only what happens on the field that counts.

  19. Cville Fan,

Before this week, Coatesville wasn’t even in HM, and you moaned and groaned then. No team will go from not even being HM one week to state-ranked the next. I don’t care who the program is or how many comments in all capital letters you post. What it boils down to is that you are just a fan who is upset because your team isn’t getting the recognition you think it deserves. Plain and simple, nothing more, nothing less.

  20. DIDN’T COATESVILLE BEAT CD EAST??? STILL NOT IN THE TOP TEN IN THE STATE ??? WHO DO THEY HAVE TO BEAT TO GET IN THE TOP TEN ON THIS SITE???

  21. Extrapoint,

Agreed totally. The rankings are non biased and for the most part accurate.

I do think that West Catholic is not given enough credit. They almost defeated one of the best AAAA teams in the state (LaSalle)and do deserve to be in that top 10. No one in that top ten has played their schedule

  22. Guys,

Seems to me that Jake is clamoring for an HM nod for Stroudsburg, not a top-10 nod. He, like several commenters throughout the season, is probably just upset b/c he’s not seeing his specific team mentioned. That’s not uncommon. Just remember, out of the state rankings which are released (PA Football News, The Patriot-News, Eastern PA Football & the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette), this is the only poll which allows readers to directly post comments and feedback.

    Jake,

When you mention “you guys,” are you talking about each statewide poll out there or just this one? This particular poll starts and stops with me. There are no other “guys” who compile this poll. If you want to accuse me of having a Lehigh Valley bias, that’s fine, but don’t make a blanket statement using “you guys,” which makes it seem like the entire site operates out of the same line of thinking. This is one opinion and is only that; it is not the collective thoughts or thinking of every individual who contributes on this site.

  23. Jake,
Come on Man, stroudsburg lost to an LVC school that routinely gets crushed in conference. What respect do you think they deserve?

  24. Stroudsburg has no business being ranked in the top 10 in the state they are not even a top 25 team in the state. The MVC is awful competition, look what a 5-5 Nazareth team did to PV and 2 win Northampton did to Stroudsburg. Its not a Lehigh Valley Bias. If anythinig Parklans hould be in the top 10 I understand why they are not but that could be an argument.

  25. Funk’s rankings are probably the most accurate and non-biased state rankings of any polls out there… Keep up the great work, Josh!

  26. lehigh valley is more competitive, stroudsburg lost to a 2 win lehigh valley team and that still carries some weight in the rankings i think. if parkland beat del val or easton theyd be ranked way higher. im very interested to see how scranton and stroudsburg stack up in these subregional playoffs cuz they were very competitive last yr in the tournament

  27. You guys won’t give Stroudsburg any love. MVC champs yet, two LVC teams with 2 loses are an honorable mention. Lehigh Valley Bias
