t.nelsonSenior Tre Nelson has started inside linebacker as a freshman. He is a four-year starter on defense and three-year starter on offense.

“Tre is a tremendous leader,” said head football coach Chris Walkowiak. “He is a two-year captain. His on the field and off the field work ethic is second to none.”

This year he had 124 tackles (school record), 62 solo, 6 tackles for loss, 1 INT and 1 fumble recovery.

“He wants to make every tackle when he’s in there.”

In 2013 he had 117 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 2 QB sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 blocked field goal in only nine games.

Tre is a tackling machine with over 400 tackles in his career.

“He’s great at diagnosing the problem and he can play sideline to sideline. His athletic ability, speed and strength and his explosiveness really sticks out to me about him.”

In his career he has 413 tackles, 221 solo, 192 assists, 34 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, 6 QB hurries, 3 forced fumble, 3 pass deflections, 4 fumble recoveries, 1 INT and 1 INT returned for touchdown.

“His freshman year he played on just pure instincts. Each year he took time to learn the game and watch a lot of film. This year the game really slowed down for him.”

He was named Class AA All-State and linebacker and verbally committed to play football at Monmouth.

“Tre is humble and a team player. All these awards are a great honor for him and he’s totally deserving, but he would be the first one to tell you that the team is first.”
