LancasterCatholicHead Coach Bruce Harbach Q&A

Q. What are the key things we should know about your offense?

A. We have six returning starters. We’re big up front with Keegan Sheedy, McIntyre Thomas, William Amidon, Guillermo Rodriquez, Matt Mixell, Cole Cassell, and Skylar Bender) with good quickness.

We want to run the football behind the big kids and they are Nassir Weaver, Dajzon Garcia, and Kurt Harnish. We have good speed in the backfield.

We’re solid at wide receivers with Christian Kemp, Jared Kramp, Cole Cassell, Darius Goudy and Rickey Poillon.

QB battle is still going on between Bryan Downey and Jordan Scott.

This should be an explosive offense and have more ball control.  We can spread people out or line up and use power football.

Some key spots to fill but will progressively getting better as the season goes on.

Q. What are the key things we should know about your defense? Please talk about the players that will impact your defense this year.

A. We have six returning starters. We’re big and strong on the defensive line and they are Cole Cassell, Noah Thomas, Keegan Sheedy and Skylar Bender.

We have good quickness at linebacker with Darius Goudy, Matt Mixell, Kurt Harnish, Joseph McShea and Chris Heise.

The secondary returns Christian Kemp, Jared Kramp and Nassir Weaver.  Kemp led the team in interceptions last season.

We have a new defensive scheme 4-3, so kids will have to adjust.

We are looking to control the run and force teams to throw the ball.  We are young at first but by mid-season should be a solid defense.

Q. What are the key things we should know about your special teams? Who are your kick and punt returners? Who are your kicker and punter?

A. Punter and kicker are still undecided but a new player, Dan Miklos a soccer player, should take over those duties and could be a weapon.

Returners could be Christian Kemp, Jared Kramp, Christian Sweigert, Dajzon Garciaor Nassir Weaver.

We haven’t really worked on special teams, but during the three day heat acclimation period, we will do a lot of special teams work.

2014 Outlook:  Big, strong offensive line.  Good overall team speed and quickness.  QB situation is up in air between two kids.

Should be able to compete in Section Two of L/L League.

Secondary is key on defense.

Return six starters on offense and six on defense.  Not a lot of depth so half of players will go both ways.

Good turnouts in off-season especially with half of new staff.   Team is learning somewhat of a new system but is picking it up well.  Excited for season.
