Coaches Comments:
We will look to seniors Zak Ruppert, Alex Bartleson, and Chris Muller for leadership on both sides of the ball and in the locker room. They have all started the past two seasons and along with experience, they bring a strong desire to compete. Their positive leadership and presence in the locker room will be instrumental in the growth of our younger players and the success of our team.
Key Offensive Points:
Zak Ruppert is a three-year starter at center. He will be joined by Keenan Schoeneberger, who returns at starter for the second year. The competition for the remaining positions will be between senior Jake Krincek and a group of sophomores that have steadily improved throughout the off-season.
Alex Bartleson and Chris Muller will start for the third years at TE and WR. Last season Muller had 10 receptions for 197 yards. They will be joined by James Klinger, Tanner Fehr, and Logan Sterner.
Logan Ruppert will move from RB to QB. Last season, as a freshman, he rushed for 332 yards on 64 carries. He will be joined in the backfield by Ryan Silvius and Austin Heisler.
The keys to the offense will be consistency, communication and the growth of the newcomers. The offensive staff led by coordinator Vinnie Andrews has installed some new concepts throughout the off-season. The kids have responded well to learning some different techniques and I am excited to see how things look when we go live.
Key Defensive Points:
We return a 3-year starter at each level of the defense.
Alex Bartleson was an All-League selection last year at DE. He recorded 41 tackles and 6 QB sacks. Players competing for positions on the defensive line are Jake Sutton, Mark Gentile, and Austin Heisler.
Zak Ruppert will anchor the middle of the defense at MLB. He recorded 61 tackles last season. Jake Krincek, Tanner Fehr, and Ryan Silvius are competing to join Ruppert in line backing corps.
The secondary is where we have the most experience. Chris Muller contributed 55 tackles last season from his position in the secondary. Both Logan Ruppert and James Klinger also return as starters.
The keys to the defense will be learning assignments and utilizing our athletic ability. I think we have a group of kids that will be able to get to the ball quickly. Our focus will be developing disciplined techniques and being physical at the point of attack.
Key Special Teams Points:
Jake Krincek returns as our placekicker. He was successful on 33 of 34 PATS last season and added a 22-yard field goal. Tyler Minnich will also be working to contribute to the kicking duties.
We have a few players that will be looking to take on the punting duties. A starter there will be determined in the scrimmages.
Returners for us this year will be Chris Muller, James Klinger, Nick Guerro, and Logan Sterner.
