Q. What are the key things we should know about your offense?
A. We have three returning starters on the offensive line. Zach Rollman, Drew Speicher, and Brandon Seitz all will return.
In the backfield, Phil Overton and Justin Johnson will take over running the ball, and have looked very good this summer.
Garrett Scott will be back for his third year at quarterback and has also shown a great deal of improvement over the summer months. We need to be able to throw the ball much better this season and we have a few players who will fight for time at receiver.
Kyle Mowery returns as a starter and Kyle Campbell, Hunter Briner, Zak Semoff, and Chris Bigger will see the field. If we are able to throw the ball effectively, we should be in good position to be very competitive this season.
Q. What are the key things we should know about your defense?
A. We are switching to the 4-3 defense this season to get more of our athletes on the field. Phil Overton will be the strong safety after starting 2 seasons at corner. Mowery and Briner look to be the corners and Campbell and Johnson will also complement the secondary. Newcomer Jake Rollman may also see some time.
At linebacker, all 3 have started in the past season. Tyler Hodges and Jeremy Fisher started every game at linebacker last season and Derek Cline saw several starts as well. They are a good-sized group that has shown a very physical nature in their play. They may be the biggest key in how well our defense plays this season.
Up front, Zach Rollman is the only returning starter. Speicher, Seitz, Billy Swartz, Brayden Coe, and Wes Brantner look to fill in the missing spots. If the line can play well, that will help take some pressure off of the linebackers.
Q. What are the key things we should know about your special teams? Who are your kick and punt returners? Who are your kicker and punter?
A. We have a returning kicker/punter in Jeremy Fisher. We also have a newcomer in Chad Stout that may also push for some playing time.
Returners will be Mowery, Johnson, Overton, Campbell, and sophomores Josiah Espinosa and Jailen Gaither may see some action.
