Head Coach Bob Rosenberger Q&A
Q. What are the key things we should know about your offense?
A. Everyone is going to benefit from another year in our system. We are able to spend more time on teaching players technique rather than assignments and this will benefit us tremendously!
Our QB (Nik Banks) has worked hard and improved this offseason, which will make us less one dimensional than last year.
Helping him out will be two wide receivers and both are juniors. John Ryan 6’4′ 180 who played last year and Ryan Lucas 6’4′ 165 who is coming out for the first time this year. These two both provide big targets with speed and great hands.
We will play running back by committee. Aubrey Mabone, Colin Tye, and Derek Finley all saw time last year. We will benefit from two transfers as well, Sam Collazo and Dan Costello.
All of our skill guys will benefit from running behind an offense line that has lived in the weight room in the offseason. Corey Schriver and Ryheem Powell are returning starters. Schriver squatted 650 lbs and bench-pressed 375. They will be joined by James Ruegner 6’2 275, Bryce Emsley 6’1 290, Angel Santiago 6’2 224 and Freshman Jacob Banks 6’2 240.
Q. What are the key things we should know about your defense?
A. Defensively it’s more or less the same as offense, our players are more comfortable with what they are doing which enables us to really focus on technique.
Vince Icabone returns at Free Safety. He had five interceptions last year and was second on the team in tackles.
Colin Tye returns at offensive linebacker. He was fifth on the team in tackles.
George Froggatt is much stronger and will lead the defensive front from his defensive end position.
The defensive line will be by committee with 6-8 players rotating through (see offensive line list above)
Q. What are the key things we should know about your special teams? Who are your kick and punt returners? Who are your kicker and punter?
A. We must replace our all league punter and our kicker. This will be settled in camp.
