Assistant Coaches:

Team Name: Haverford School Fords

2014 Record: 9-1

2015 Team Schedule

Overview:

Losing 22 seniors is a challenge for any team in the Inter-Ac, and that is what the Fords will face this year. Losing 22 seniors that had a tremendous impact in all 3 areas of the football team will be a big hurdle for the Fords this year. However, talent and leadership still remain for the Fords, but inexperience will be more prevalent than it was for the 2014 team that went 9-1 overall and undefeated 5-0 in the Inter-Ac.

Still, the Fords return Co Inter-Ac Player of the Year, Dox Aitken (Sr. 6’3 195lb FS/WR/P) as well as record setting QB, Kevin Carter (Sr. 5’11 195lb QB) and that is a good place to start for any team. A number of other All Inter-Ac selections return and will form the nucleus of the team, providing talent and leadership. Micky Kober (Sr. 6’1 215lb LB), Frank Cresta (Sr. 6’2 230lb LB/OL), Brian Denoncour (Sr. 6’3 270lb OL/DL) and Micah Sims (Sr. 5’8 160lb WR/DB) will be counted on to have another solid season and help bring along some inexperienced players who will need to fill the roles vacated by the graduating seniors.

Offensive Starters Returning: (5)

#17 Kevin Carter (QB Sr. 5’11 195lb), #24 Dox Aitken (WR Sr. 6’3 195lb), #71 Brian Denoncour (OT Sr. 6’3 270lb), #53 Frank Cresta (OG Sr. 6’2 230lb), #1 Micah Sims (WR Sr. 5’8 160lb)

Defensive Starters Returning: (5)

#24 Dox Aitken (FS Sr. 6’3 195lb), #53 Frank Cresta (LB Sr. 6’2 230lb), #32 Micky Kober (LB Sr. 6’1 215lb), #1 Micah Sims (DB Sr. 5’8 160lb), #5 Eli Godfrey (Jr. DB 5’10 175lbs)

Players to Watch:

#5 Eli Godfrey (Jr. DB/RB 5’10 175lbs), #8 Mallik Twyman (Jr. RB/LB 5’10 205lbs), #33 Chris Kober (Jr. LB/H 5’10 210lbs), #11 Keyveat Postell (Sr. WR/SS 6’2 175lbs), #14 Forry Smith (Sr. WR/S 6’3 190lbs), #76 Peter Solomon (Jr. OL/DL 6’3 265lbs), #55 Colin Hurlbrink (So. DL/OT 6’2 220lbs), #2 Aron Hudson (Jr. DB/WR 5’7 160lbs)

Expected Strengths:

Experience at QB, explosiveness and size at skill positions could present match-up problems, experience in defensive secondary

 Concerned About:

Lack of experience along both fronts, RB’s without proven game experience, no proven kicker

Division I or I-AA prospects, with interested schools (please denote scholarship offers):

#17 Kevin Carter (QB Sr. 5’11 195lb) – FCS interest, Ivy/Patriot/CAA

#32 Micky Kober (LB Sr. 6’1 215lb) – FCS interest, Ivy/Patriot

#1 Micah Sims (DB Sr. 5’8 160lb) – FCS interest, Ivy/Patriot

#53 Frank Cresta (LB Sr. 6’2 230lb) – FCS interest

#71 Brian Denoncour (OT Sr. 6’3 270lb) – FCS interest, Ivy/Patriot

Offense: “We are excited about returning many explosive players with experience on the offensive side of the ball. Replacing two solid senior running backs will fall to a tandem of juniors, Eli Godfrey and Mallik Twyman, with sophomore Ben Stallworth pushing them. Returning Senior QB Kevin Carter, should continue to develop and direct the offense and get the ball to playmakers within the system. If the group up front comes together, this could be a very exciting offense.

Defense: This group will be led by a talented group of DB’s on the back end. They all run well, and the safeties possess good size. The LB core has really started to gel this summer and during camp, and should be a very physical unit. The key to the overall success will be the development of a young core of defensive lineman. They will need to produce quickly if this unit is to be a dominant one.

Special Teams: the graduation of 22 seniors may be felt the most in this area. It means that many younger players will be forced in to duty on the special teams. The loss of record setting PK Jack Soslow will also leave not only a hole in the points scored, but perhaps more importantly in almost ensuring that the opponent usually started their drive from their own 20. Dox Aitken returns at the punter with one of the most powerful legs in the state.
