2016 Offensive outlook: (Please let us know the keys about your team on offense. What are your keys to having a successful year?)
It will be tough to replace workhorse Kevin Kenny (1630 yards/22 Touchdowns) but look for Sr. Joey Hestor or Rising FR. Russ Amick to get a bulk of the carries this fall in Cove. The Blackhawks return two lineman up front with Joel Etter and Ryan Baker. Look for the youngster Aaron Etter and well experienced Brandon Blose to anchor the tackle spots. Returning Tight End Cole Falduts is a reliable option in the passing game and solid up front. Blackhawks must find a reliable, physical fullback to replace bruiser Vinne Werner. Look for the bulk of experience to return in the skill positions. Neumayer has departed, but the gaps are filled with Miller, Lugo, Stine, and a host of others that will look to receive passes from whomever takes over the starting quarterback nod. The Blackhawks started 6 different quarterbacks a year ago, but look for that to change and consistency to be relevant under center. That is going to a huge test for the upcoming 2016-2017 season.
2016 Defensive Outlook: (Please let us know the keys about your team on defense. What are your keys to having a successful year?)
A solid core returns from a defense that ranked number 1 in the league a year ago. The losses of linebackers Hunter McGuire (101 tackles) and Kevin Kenny (110 tackles) is going to hurt. Look for Joel Etter to remain the anchor inside and expect a move from all conference SS Trent Mcguire to be down in the box. Baker and Etter will again anchor the DL. Expect valuable snaps from newcomer Troy Rhome. Nate Kessler, Lugo, Miller, Stine, and McGuire have all seen snaps in the secondary. This certainly is the experienced group from a solid defense that had 10+ takeaways in 2015.
2016 Special Teams Outlook: (Please let us know the keys about your team on special teams. What are your keys to having a successful year?)
Nate Woleslagle returns to the Susquenita Sidelines this fall to resume his kicking duties. A very efficient kick off man and consistent on his extra points. He has developed more range this off season and look for this to be a huge weapon this season. Lugo will continue to develop as the Punter.
