Special Teams: “Elijah Redmond does kickoffs and punt returns. He did a great job last year and scored a few touchdowns that way for us. Kareem Williams and Jarey Elder are the other return guys. When those guys catch the ball they make things happen. Our kicker coming back is a good one. He is Jake Bissell and he is a punter too. We have another punter and he is Stephen Laird. Our long snapper is Omar Haddad. He did it last year.”
Coaches comments:
How’s your offensive line?
“We have one starter back from last year at tackle. He is Josh Walmer. Last year was the same thing we had only one returning starter. We have some kids back that played significantly but didn’t start. They are Hudson Rabenhold at center. We have a guy battling at guard. He is Senior Mike Aboulhouda. We have another kid that had lots of playing time last year. He is Tom Stenulis. We don’t know if he will play guard or tackle this year. Another kid, Kyle Krisher, is in the mix. These are the kids we are looking at plugging in our offensive line. We try and play our offensive lineman one-way. We go through a process and pick five best guys for the line.”
“We do have some experience at tight end. He is Nezar Haddad.”
Do you have a battle at the quarterback position?
“Yes, we have a good battle going there. It’s between three kids. We have two sophomores that are very athletic. They are Devante Cross and Nolan Ridgeway. Devante started on the basketball team as a freshman last year. Nolan started on the Lacrosse team. Nick Zambelli is the third quarterback and he is going to be a junior. He is the one with the most experience. Devante got in some games. Nolan played freshman football last year.”
How’s your running game look?
“We have one of our top running backs returning. He is Elijah Redmond. We also have our fullback back and he is Kareem Williams. He played a lot for us last year. He had about 500 yards rushing. Preston Saylor got some playing time last year.”
How do your receivers look?
“Ryan Hunt played last year. Jarey Elder started every game for us last year. He is a slot receiver. They are the only two receivers we have coming back. Legend Boyesen has done real well this summer and has some experience. Another kid is Najee Redmond.”
How’s your defensive line?
“We got three of the four defensive lineman back. Returning on the line is David Barber at defensive end. Omar Haddad started for us last year on the line. Amir Wallace is back and played as much as the starters did last year. Shane Fisher, Billy Danko and Nick Slatoff are battling for the fourth spot on the line.”
How are your linebackers?
“Nezar Haddad returns at linebacker. We lost the other two linebackers from last year. Preston Saylor is penciled in for one of the starting spots. Legend Boyesen, Kareem Williams and Erik DiGirolamo are in the mix.”
How’s your secondary look?
“We have Jarey Elder returning and also Elijah Redmond. Najee Redmond is in the mix. Nick Zambelli got some playing time last year. He started a few games for us last year. Anthony Pagilaro is in the hunt. He’s doing a real good job this summer.”
What is your key at the quarterback position this year?
“On offense we have to replace our quarterback from last year, Tim Baranek. Tim was a good one for us last year. We need one of the three kids battling for the starter job to step up. They are all very athletic and run extremely well. Tim was more of a pocket passer last year and these kids are more of a play action, sprint out type of kid. That will make them more effective because of there ability to run the football.”
Do you have any concerns on the line?
“Yes, on how quickly our offensive line is going to gel. It always starts with the offensive line. My offensive line coach does a tremendous job.”
How about your skill?
“I think we have experience at the skill positions on offense.”
Do you have any concerns on defense?
“Defensively we lost two real good linebackers from last year, Zachary Gurinowich and Xavier Roden. Those two kids had great years for us last year. Replacing them will be a challenge for us. How ever my defensive coordinator Timmy Moncman did a real good job of getting kids into games last year. Because of that we are going to have some experience at linebacker. I think our skill is good in the secondary. We should be fine on the line.”
One response to “40 Teams in 40 Days – Day 26 – Parkland (11) – Big School Team # 8”
I watched Parkland on film today Vs. Wilson, WL, Very good Scrimmage… Physical and lots of speed, Parkland, definitely tops in the area. Enjoy the football season..
