Coaches comments:

How’s your offense line?

“We have four out of the five kids returning on the offensive line. We have returning at left offensive tackle, Anthony Long. He started for us as a freshman. He has a couple of division one offers already. Our left guard is Kendrick Lewis. Tommy Moore is back and will play at center position. Our right guard is Devin Deibler. He’s back from his freshman year. Our right tackle started last year and he is back. He is Jordan Mosley.”

“At tight end we have Johnny Yetter and Mike Perloski. Also Austin Anderson will play there as well as Chad Cortez.”

Alec Werner has graduated. Who’s your quarterback?

“A guy who was quarterback for our JV team as a freshman and sophomore, Nick Marsilio. He will be a junior. He played a little bit last season. He is 6-foot-3 with a cannon arm. His dad was a quarterback at Akron.”

How’s your running game look?

“We have our fullback back. His name is Joey Kerle. Both of our 1,000 yard tailbacks are back. Rashad Lawson will be a senior. Andre Robinson is back and has about 20 division one offers.”

Note: Lawson and Robinson combined rushing for 2,046 yards on 301 carries and 30 touchdowns.

How are your receivers?

“We have our number two and three receivers back as far as catches from last year. The first one is Kobay White. He will be a sophomore and has a couple of division one offers already. Tyrone Gibson is back. He won the District 100-meters last year. A lot of speed between both kids. We have some other guys that will get some playing time. I feel we have four sophomores that are division one receivers. One guy is Bryce Hall. His brother played at Stanford and in the NFL with the 49ers. Kevin Lentz will see some playing time. Alex Marsico is another sophomore receiver. Chad Cortez will play some receiver when he isn’t playing tight end.”

Note: Gibson and White combined last year catching 41 passes for 846 yards and seven touchdowns

How’s your defensive line?

“We have at defensive end Steve Marrazzo. He was first team All-State last year. Mike Perloski is the other defensive end. He has some offers from Ivy League schools and Patriot League schools. Austin Anderson also played a ton last year. At defensive tackle we have Myles Turner back. He’s starting to get some division one interest. The other defensive tackle is Jordan Mosley and Anthony Long will play quite a bit.”

How are your linebackers?

“We have all three starters back. Nate Monroe is back and has a couple of division one offers. Greg Artis-Payne is middle linebacker. The other outside linebacker is also a division one recruit and he is Que’Shawn Jenkins.”

How’s your secondary look?

“Tyrone Gibson will start for us at corner and the other corner will be Joe Headen who was a freshman last year and played nickel for us. Kobay White will play a little bit at corner. Our safeties will be Brandon Stanback and the other guy could be Anthony Dasent at safety.”

What are your keys going into this year?

“One of the things that has hurt us in the last couple of years is when we wanted to run the football against real good teams like Archbishop Wood and Erie Cathedral Prep they shut down our running game. We ran early against Prep, than they shut our running game down. We need to run the ball when we want to run the ball. Our offensive line should be our strength for us this year. We’ve got size and experience.”

“The biggest key is to run when we want to and be able to run the ball in December. On defense we have a lot of experience coming back. We have our front seven all returning.”

You have a lot of speed on the team. Talk about your speed.

“This may be my fastest team at McDevitt I ever had and we have size to go with the speed.”
