The Redskins haven’t hoisted a District 1 AAAA championship trophy since 2004, but there are a lot of solid pieces in place for Neshaminy to make a deep playoff run.
It all starts up front, where starters/significant contributors in the form of Alex McKenzie, Chris Kutsubos, John Bell, Mike Wunderlich and tight end Tadas Karusevicius all return. Neshaminy’s offensive line helped to pave the way for a unit which amassed 4,663 yards of offense (2,784 rushing, 1,879 passing) and scored 61 total offensive touchdowns (42 rush, 19 pass) en route to the District 1 AAAA championship game. Running back Sean Ulmer returns after running for more than 1,000 yards and junior wideout Justin Andrews caught 34 passes last season for the ‘Skins. Quarterback Joe Bianchino (1-of-5, 2 yds), a senior, will replace 1,800-yard passer Charlie Marterella, who completed 58.4 percent of his passes and averaged more than 144 yards per game.
Temple recruit Kiser Terry leads the Neshaminy defensive unit after posting 47 tackles and a team-leading six sacks. Bobby Marterella, a wide receiver/defensive back combination, picked off a team-leading five passes and returns to key the ‘Skins defensive backfield. Neshaminy is 99-25 overall (.798) since the start of the 2001 season.
