@james easton is very fundamentally sound and very physical its an itriguing matchup teams from up that way dont usually beat teams from the lehigh valley but anythings possible and i will tell you this easton does not play well in rainy/snowy conditions got shutout by parkland in the rain this year and 2 years ago in the state playoffs they blew a 14 pt second half lead in the snow to lose the game, dont know the forecast for this weekend, but an interesting matchup for sure
What’s up with “Surbuban Fan” and “Buddy”? Kinda reminds me of a movie a few years back called “Grumpy Old Men” with Walter Matthau and Jack Lemon.
“Civil Discourse”? Who talks like that?
This is a football website right? I didn’t wander into a Jerry Springer blog?
Back to football. Congrats to phoenixville on their first ever playoff win! How good is this Garnet valley team? Guess will see.
Great blog gang! I know this topic is re-hashing last weeks game, but I can’t help asking what you think of the pending Pen Argyl/ Northern Lehigh match. Probably the best match in AA this week eh?
Congrats to the #4 seed Tamaqua Area Blue Raiders on a great double overtime 33-32 win over #1 seed Catasauqua Rough Riders in the 1st round or the eastern conf div II playoffs!!
@ Dave:
Oh c’mon Dave, you gotta admit it’s entertaining as hell. There’s no malice goin’ on here ( not on my part anyway). Lotsa fun I think. Let it thru & see if I’m right.
Ron, Scranton is on fire, unless they implode, can’t see Easton beating them and a Scranton/Parkland championship would be one heck of a game. Scranton is a turf team and Easton is a grass team, curious if the field is a factor at all.
@ Dave
I’ll bet he does.
Dave:
I said that I will not reply to Mr. Buddy’s sarcasm and I will not. However, he still is referring to me on this website after saying HE WILL NOT.
He said there was no name calling! What does he think calling a person a fool is and accusing them of slander? Dave, YOU BE THE JUDGE.
He says he is 64. It would be appreciated if he acted his age. I rest my case.
Dave, your website is very informative and appreciated by all those who follow high school football. I thank you for it BUT I will not be adding any more comments again. In my humble opinion, CIVILITY has disappeared in public discourse. Good Luck and keep up the great work.
in my opinion the upset of the week was scranton defeating wvw 36-7. a lot of people had wvw playing for the dist 2/11 aaaa title. scranton is 8-3 having a 7 game winning streak. dont be surprise if scranton takes care of easton this weekend.
Why is this man so angry? There was no name calling. By-the-way………. I’m 64
yea bears bring it back give it to nativity
just wanna say to mahanoy area after a tough defeat to shenandoah you guys bounced back against nortwest 41-0 in ec playoffs good luck in championship game this friday also to gaval forte goodman and baker assume game and to the hole team bring home another ec title make last years seniors proud
Dave;
I stated MY opinion about the seeding in District 1. My opinion was attacked and then I was accused of being disgruntled by you know who. I don’t mind anyone disagreeing with me BUT I was attacked personally. He kept it going calling me a fool, addressing me as a kid and now accusing me of slander. He doesn’t even know the proper use of the word.
Follow the conversation for yourself and see who initiated the sarcastic comments.
I am over 70 years old. I enjoy high school football and I don’t like being verbally abused for my opinion, especially by someone half my age or more. I will never answer such an individual again. I don’t know him and don’t care to know him. He was looking for an argument and I don’t back away from such disrespect.
HOW WOULD YOU HAVE REACTED TO HIS COMMENTS?
IGNORE THEM? I DON’T THINK SO.
@ Mika:
I was just thinking that Dave. This gentlemen takes an opposing opinion personally. That’s what these threads are all about. Oh well….. I already decided to take a hiatus from further conversation with him. I promise not to respond to any more of his slander. It’s just not that important.
@ Perk valley ’75:
I believe Gervirtz is the most versatile player on the team. Reminds me alot of Taggart from last years squad.
@ Buddy & Suburban Fan….
Do I have to give you guys a time out….
@ Suburban Fan:
You did it again!
Budd:
Don’t call me kid. I have been involved with high school football for over 60 years. You are a very disrepectful individual. What I have forgotten about high school sports you have yet to learn. No use continuing this conversation with a narrow minded ideologue who cannot accept any divergent opinion.
Don’t waste my time. As I said- SEEK HELP!
@ Suburban fan:
Wow……….. you just made a total fool of yourself there kid……….. nuff said.
Budd:
Don’t ever accuse me of ever being disgruntled over high school football or FOOTBALL IN GENERAL!
I stated my opinion of what I thought is wrong with the present PIAA system. You can state your opinion. PEOPLE CAN DISAGREE, I THINK THAT IS STILL PERMISSIBLE IN THE UNITED STATES.
However, you seem very narrow minded and immature, lashing out personally when an opposing viewpoint is presented. You might not get disgruntled over high school football but you sure appear to be disgruntled with life. You have a major problem. Seek help!
Another strong showing for Central Dauphins Zayd Issah. Issah had 18 rushes for 93 yards and scored 3 TDs. His defensive performance was once again stellar. He had 6 Tackles and 3 Sacks for -32 yards. 2 of his 3 sacks were on 4th downs and forced Fumbles.
Suburban:
ALL those teams did well in the regular season, so I don’t see your point. Even teams from a weaker league ( like Sprigford), had to beat teams with a winning record or they would not have made the playoffs. Any other system, especially one that selects based on opinion, would have the potential for bias. You would probably have a bigger complaint if that didn’t go your way. No way can you avoid teams playing in the playoffs that have played in the regular season….. no way. Also, I don’t get disgruntled over high school football.
Budd:
Yes, upsets occur every year BUT NOT in 6 out of 8 games in the FIRST round. They need a new method of tabulatig the points system. There are to many teams in the Quad A District 1 playoffs. It is all about revenue for the PIAA.
Some leagues are weaker than others and yet they are judged the same as the strong leagues.
Play-offs ahould be a reward for teams that did VERY well in the REGULAR season and not for giving teams a second chance to perform well.
Also, teams that played each other in the regular season should not have to face each other in the first round. This happened in three of the first round games.
By the way Budd, my team is still in the play-offs and will win the District 1 Championship.
Don’t confuse a truthful statement with loyalty to a high school football team. Be careful what you say. You might be the disgruntled one when this is over
Phillyboy, I think the Eastern Conference gives teams #9,#10,#1 in A,AA,AAA & AAAA that were on the bubble a chance to play one extra and if they win a championship game. Personally, I think it’s a good thing for teams that were hurt by injuries or that are young and up & coming. It also affords seniors a chance for at least 2 more games and some of them it may their last.
@ Suburban fan:
THE SEEDING COMMITTE DID JUST FINE. IT’S NOT AN OPINION POLL. THEY ARE BOUND BY THE POINT SYSTEM. IT’S COMPLETELY OUT OF THEIR HANDS. THE POINT SYSTEM, WHICH IS EXTREMELY EQUITABLE, MANDATES WHERE TEAMS ARE SEEDED. BY-THE-WAY, UPSETS, IF YOU CAN CALL THEM THAT, ARE PART OF THE GAME. MAKES IT VERY EXCITING. IF THE HIGHER SEED WON EVERY GAME, THEN WHY HAVE PLAYOFFS? I SUSPECT YOUR TEAM, ONE OF THE HIGHER SEEDS, LOST. THAT’S PROBABLY WHY YOU’RE DIS-GRUNTLED.
Dallas Junior QB Ryan Zapoticky. Throws 3td and rushes for 2td. Season total 22 tds passing and 7tds rushing. Jim Roccograndi rushes for 125 yards for the 7th time this year as Dallas rolls Scranton Prep.
The phoenixville phantoms in district one aaa won their first district playoff game in school history defeating a good interboro squad 44-20 how bout some respect for the pac
10 who had four teams in district playoff games this weekend
How about Jordan Groff’s 4 TDs (2 rushing, 1 receiving and a pick 6) and 123 yards rushing . . . by the way, that all happened in the first half!
SCA dominated again…with Dunmore losing, the winner of SCA vs LM next week is the sure favorite to make the State Championship…Tiger QB Brad Fegley was a perfect 8-8 with over 100 yards and a TD and extends his streak to 11 games without throwing an INT this season…RB’s Levan, Moore, and Feudale all had 2 rushing TDs as well
Garnet Valley has become one of the clear favorites to win the District One Championship. They have become a force to reckon with!!
Dan Gevirtz, normally a wide receiver, rushed for over 200 yards and 2 touchdowns in North Penn’s victory over Bayard Rustin.
Was checking out the playoff brackets. I noticed that there is something called “Eastern Conference” that apparently is separate and distinct from the state playoffs. It seems to be a separate independent tournament. What’s that all about? I don’t understand it. Can somebody explain to me what on earth that is. Thx.
THE DISTRICT 1 SEEDING COMMITTEE STOOD OUT!!!!!
WHEN THE # 2, #3, #4, #6, #7, and #8 SEEDED TEAMS LOSE IN THE FIRST ROUND OF A SIXTEEN TEAM PLAYOFF, SOMETHING IS AMISS IN THE PLAYOFF SELECTION TECHNIQUE AND BETTER BE ADDRESSED BEFORE NEXT SEASON.
WE KNOW THE PIAA’s PHILOSOPHY, THE MORE TEAMS, THE MORE PARTICIPATION, THE MORE REVENUE. BUT WHAT HAPPENED IN DISTRICT 1’s FIRST ROUND OF THE PIAA PLAYOFFS WAS A JOKE AND EMBARRASSING TO SAY THE LEAST.
Garnet Valley Defense holding Ridley to 6 points. This Garnet Valley team could go very far. Their senior WR AJ DiPeitro is back for the playoffs and should be even better next week vs. Central Bucks South
Records fall in District 11
ACC QB Brendan Nosovich (250 yards, 2 TDs) set the District 11 career touchdown record, breaking Wilson’s Tyler Smith’s mark of 87. His third quarter strike to Jalen Snyder-Scipio broke Smith’s record, giving him 88 for his career.
ACC wide receiver Kevin Gulyas set the PIAA receiving record, breaking Hazleton’s Donald Patrick (3,542). Gulyas (3,550 yards) broke the record in the third quarter.
How about Coatesville last night with an impressive 60-28 1st round win over Spring Ford. North Carolina State recruit QB Manny Stocker 13-16 215 yards 5 TDs & 1 rushing TD. Michigan State recruit WR Kyle Kerrick caught 6 for 91 yards 1TD, Underrated RB Dae-Hon Cheung ran for 190 1 TD bringing his total close to 2,000 yards n 20 TDs on the season.(Still unsigned). Jr breakout WR Chris Jones also stepped up with 170 yards receiving n 4 TDs. Sophomore standout LB Tyler Burke also played his part in shutting down the running game and slowing a team who avg 39 ppg(Probable D1 player 6’3 230lbs) n Andre Boggs scored twice on a pass and a run. The Red Raiders look explosive and have tons of speed & talent. Interested to see if the undersized O & D line can continue its stellar play for Coach Ortega as the playoffs continue
