Offensive Player of the Week:
Samaj Jones – St. Joseph’s Prep – QB – Junior
The Hawk’s talented and versatile signal-caller accounted for 4 touchdowns and 309 yards of rushing/passing in their 52-21 dismantling of Parkland in a PIAA 6A Quarterfinal. Jones rushed 8 times for 96 yards and two scores. He was an efficient 10-for-15 passing for 213 yards and two more scores. For the season, Jones has accumulated nearly 2,700 yards of passing/rushing and 37 total touchdowns.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Matt Malley – Archbishop Ryan – LB – Junior
In the Raiders’ 17-6 Thanksgiving victory over neighborhood rivals George Washington Malley spearheaded a defense that kept the host Eagles under 100 yards of offense. Malley finished with 9 total tackles; including 6 solos. Amongst these stops were 1.5 sacks and two other TFLs that totaled nine yards in losses.
Special Teams Player of the Week:
Dane Pizzaro – Father Judge – K/P – Junior
Pizzaro has been consistent and reliable all season and in Judge’s 28-12 win over Lincoln on Thanksgiving that remained the case. He nailed all four of his point-after attempts and slammed four kickoffs into the end zone for touchbacks.
