The Grenadiers of G.A.R. had won nine consecutive games outscoring the opposition during that stretch by an average of 46-20. However, tonight was much different as Pen Argyl ended G.A.R.’s season at 11-2 with a 50-20 victory.
The Green Knights led 8-6 with just over six minutes remaining in the first half. Pen Argyl scored 28-points within that time span and would head to the intermission up 36-8.
Pen Argyl scored on offense, defense, and special teams en route to their lop sided victory. Dylan Evans ran for over 190 yards as he scored twice on the ground and also a pick six on defense. The Green Knights (13-0) now move on to the PIAA Class AA Quarterfinals to take on West Catholic.
G.A.R.’s Darrell Crawford ends a brilliant career as the Grenadiers’ signal caller. Crawford eclipsed the 4,000 yard rushing mark for his four year tenure. In this game, he rushed for 73 yards and threw for another 74. It was fitting that the final two Grandier touchdowns were scored by Darrell.
