EASTON, PA. – The Easton Area School District Department of Athletics and Administrative team has recommended Matt Senneca to be Easton’s next Head Football Coach, pending School Board approval on February 21, 2023.

Coach Senneca emerged as the leading candidate throughout the district’s multi-stage interview process involving various stakeholder groups within the school district. The coaching search included many qualified candidates from a pool of over 20 applicants, both local and out of the area. Candidates were interviewed with committees made up of district coaches, student-athletes, and administrators before advancing to a final round with administration.

If approved by the School Board of Directors, Coach Senneca enters the position with a wealth of experience as a player and coach at many levels. His detailed plan for Easton Football addresses every facet of the program and student-athlete, blending new energy and approach with the storied tradition of Easton Football. A resident of Palmer Township, Coach Senneca has been a part of the Lehigh Valley football community for the majority of his life and a part of the Easton community for several years.

Coach Senneca played quarterback for the football teams at Allentown Central Catholic and Penn State University prior to embarking on his coaching career. A certified K-12 Business and Technology Teacher, Coach Senneca previously served as QB Coach/Pass Game Coordinator at Liberty High School from 2003-2009, appearing in the State Finals in 2005 and 2006, while winning District XI 4A Championships in 2005, 2006, and 2008. He then moved on to stints at Parkland High School as Running Backs Coach from 2010-2011, Moravian University as Wide Receivers Coach in 2013, Wilson Area High School as Head Football Coach from 2014-2015, and Emmaus High School as Offensive Coordinator from 2016-2018, capturing two EPC South Championships with the Green Hornets. In 2019, he was named the Head Football Coach at Whitehall High School, a position he held through the 2022 season. During his time at Whitehall, Coach Senneca captured two District XI 5A Championships (2020, 2022), reached the PIAA Quarterfinals (2022), and was named Morning Call Coach of the Year.
