After starting out 1-2, the Crusaders have ripped off 11 straight wins and have out scored their opponents 474-124.

It starts with Senior defensive end Noah Spence who is ranked number sixth by scouts.com and number nine by rivals.com. Last year he led the Crusaders with 22 sacks and has 11 1/2 sacks this season.

Spence was named the Gatorade Pennsylvania Player of the Year last week.

Bishop McDevitt is deep at linebackers too. The 6-1, 217-pound linebacker Brock Dean, who has made a verbal commitment to Maryland, leads the way. Tariq Spence has 84 total tackles and Allen Holman leads the team with 92 tackles.

McDevitt’s front line will get a stiff test this week in the Western Class 3A finals this Friday night against Montour out of the WPIAL.

Montour is led by running back Julian Durden who has rushed for 1,967 yards and 25 touchdowns.

The Crusaders secondary will be tested unlike any teams have tested them this season.

Quarterback Dillon Buechel has completed 168 of 258 passes for 2,537 yards and 39 touchdowns.

Buechel spreads his passes around to four receivers. The two big receivers are Darren Massey (941 yards) and Devin Wilson (819 yards). Aaron Reed has 369 yards receiving and out of the back field Durden has 17 catches for 222 yards.

Final Thoughts:

Can the Crusaders defense stop Montour’s high flying offense? If players like Spence and Brock have something to say, they will.
