After posting 18 victories in the last two seasons, including a 10-win campaign in 2010, a new head coach and a 2012 team that’s bulked itself up with lots and lots of talent and speed, there’s a lot of talk about Imhotep being ready to move itself into the conversation of District 12’s elite.
It all starts with David Williams, a career 2,800-yard rusher who transferred from West Catholic after running for more than 1,900 yards as a junior. Eerin Young, a 1,000-yard rusher for the Panthers in his junior season, is also back, and sophomore quarterback Andre Dreuitt rounds out the offensive backfield.
Imhotep also returns some size up front, and should prove quite a formidable threat to win the AA division of the Philadelphia Public League.
But that league crown won’t be enough for these Panthers, as all eyes will surely be focused squarely on an anticipated showdown with West Catholic for the District 1/12 AA subregional championship.
