LOWER MERION: After last week unprobable 33-27 come from behind victory against the Harrioton Rams at home the Springfield Cougars took to the road on a beautiful sun splashed afternoon looking to complete the sweep of the Lower Merion School district. After a slow start it was mission accomplished as the Cougars down the Lower Merion Aces 28-7.

The Cougars took the opening kick opening and fumbled the ball on their second play from scrimmage. The Aces couldn’t take advantage turning the ball on over on downs. When the Cougars who controlled the ball for most of the first took back over nothing was going to stop them from getting the ball in to the endzone and on the 12th play of their drive Cameron Durham sneaked his way in from a yard out. Brad Lord would add the extra point to up his career total to 100 points.

After forcing the Aces to another three and out the Cougars took over and added to their lead with a eight play 89 yard drive with the big play being a 52 yard pass from Durham to John Ferguson. Rob Murphy would end the drive with a seven yard touchdown run to put Cougars up 14-0 at half.

In the third quarter the Aces cut the Cougars lead in half when Anton Novehrends connected with Ernest Pendleton for a 17 yard touchdown. On the following Cougars drive they loss another fumble and the Aces appeared to have momentum. Enter Barry Foster who was victimized on the previous touchdown. All Foster did was get pay back with an interception.  Eight plays later Foster was in the endzone celebrating a touchdown.

In the fourth quarter Murphy sealed the victory with a 34 yard touchdown run.

The Cougars 2-1 host the Upper Darby Royals on Friday night, while the Aces host the Garnet Valley Jaguars.
