District 11 Top Returning Players Week 3

DISTRICT 11 NOTES (week 3):   

 

RUNNINGBACKS: 

Junior Luke Miller of North Schuylkill rushed for 207 yards and 2 td’s while also catching 7 passes for 111 yards and a td in their win over Notre Dame. Junior Niko Carestia of Schuylkill Haven also rushed for 200 yards in week 3. Carestia rushed for 204 yards and 2 td’s in their win over Shenandoah Valley. Miller has rushed for 441 yards this season, and Carestia has rushed for 446 yards. They both trail Rory Dixon of Marian Catholic who has rushed for 456 yards this season. Aaron Beete of Freedom also went over the 400 yard mark in week 3 and has 401 yards rushing. Eli Zimmerman of Northwestern leads the District with his 9 touchdowns scored. Zimmerman has rushed for 5 td’s, caught a td pass and has returned a punt for a td in all 3 games this season. Carestia has scored 30 td’s in his career and Samuel Spolski of Nativity reached the 30 td career mark in week 3.

 

QUARTERBACKS:

Matt Bodnar of Notre Dame threw for 363 yards and 3 td’s vs North Schuylkill to put him over 1,000 yards this season. Bodnar has thrown for 1,280 yards and 14 td passes in the first 3 games. Cayden Vassa of Bethlehem Catholic who threw for 3 td’s in each of the first two games then rushed for 3 td’s in their win over Berks Catholic in week 3. Wayne King of ES North went over 1,000 yards passing for his career in their win over Allen. King has thrown for 1,140 yards in his career and is only the 5th QB to do so for the Timberwolves. The other 4 are, John Cuiffo (3,090 yards) from 2003-06, Thomas Melchiorre (1,087 yards) from 2013-16, David Aquiles (1,020 yards) in 2017 only, and Anthony Johnson (1,235 yards) from 2018-19. Brady Shomper of Williams Valley also went over 1,000 yards passing for his career. Shomper, like King a junior, has thrown for 1,014 career yards. Peyton Falzone of Nazareth, another junior, threw for 255 yards and 4 td’s in their win over Wilson West Lawn. Falzone went over 3,000 yards passing in his career (3,153) and has thrown 25 career td passes. Dante Carr of Minersville has thrown for 8 td’s and rushed for 7 td’s in the first 3 games. Carr, yet another junior, set the school record for career td passes with his 36. Scott Schwalm held the old record when he threw 34 td passes from 2016-2019. Chase Walker of Freedom had his second 200 plus yard passing game in week 3 and went over the 2,000 yard career mark (2,124).

 

RECEIVERS:

Jasir Frutchey of Easton caught 4 passes for 131 yards in their win over Northeast. All 4 catches went for touchdowns which tied the school record that Eddie Olson set back in 2017 vs Whitehall. Ethan Dudsak of Stroudsburg leads the District in receptions with 20. Brady Behr of PM West is one behind with 19. Xzavier Pusateri of ES South has 18 receptions this season and 60 now in his career. Pusateri went over 1,000 career yards in week 3 (1,034). Gaige Guers of Blue Mountain also has 60 career receptions which is a new school record. Charlie Schultz held when he caught 59 passes from 1998-2000. Guers needs 18 yards to reach 1,000 yards for his career. Jack Robertson of Saucon Valley caught his 18th career td pass in week 3 to break Nate Harka’s school career record. Harka caught 17 td passes from 2013-15. Alex Clark of Notre Dame caught 5 passes for 207 yards with three of them going for td’s vs North Schuylkill in week 3. Clark fell 3 yards short of the school record. David Sanders held the record when he had 210 receiving yards on 5 catches vs Palisades in 2018.   

Harrison Aillet of ES South kicked a 42 yard field goal in their win over Whitehall. The school record is 47 yards that Todd Repsher boomed on Thanksgiving morning vs Stroudsburg in 1972.

Tamaqua – George Barron 1962 (1,351 yards)

Bangor – Dave Menecola 1985 (1,004 yards)

Blue Mountain – Jeff Zimmerman 1965 (1,077 yards)

Cardinal Brennan – John Marin 1974 (1,274 yards)

Central Catholic – Scott Mittl 1980 (1,147 yards)
