Old Forge prevails over Riverside, 54-7, in one of the most anticipated match ups of the season in District 2. The Blue Devils thumped the Vikings behind six touchdown runs by Brian Tomasetti. Old Forge has now won ten consecutive regular season contests and their last seven away from home.
Coach Mike Schuback’s group knocked off the Vikings last year in the Class A playoffs, 47-6, following a regular season 15-14 setback to Riverside. The Devils had the top rated scoring offense (42.3) in District 2 and the second ranked defense (7.0) entering tonight’s showdown.
Riverside had won their previous three games before tonight’s loss. Over the course of the last twelve meetings, the Vikings had won nine against Old Forge prior to this evening. Riverside drops to 24-9 at home since September 29, 2006.
Next week, the Vikings (3-2) will look to get back on track when they face Western Wayne on Friday. Old Forge (5-0) returns home to battle Montrose.
