Usually when match ups are deemed the ‘Game of the Year’ – they fall short of meeting the desired expectations. Tonight’s contest between Scranton and Delaware Valley displayed every emotion which one could feel while watching a football game. The highs and lows. The jubilation and disappointment.

Coach Keith Olsommer’s Delaware Valley group jumped on top of the Knights early and often as their no huddle approach paid dividends en route to a 20-0 lead. Following Cory Savarese’s 35-yard interception return for the third score of the day, it appeared as if the momentum was staying with the homestanding Warriors.

However, Scranton would not be outdone as the Knights came back to score 20-unanswered points to send the game to intermission all nodded up at 20 apiece.

To begin the third frame, Warriors’ Joe Santiago capped off the opening drive by crossing the goal line from 5-yards out to give Delaware Valley a 27-20 advantage.

Back came the Knights, Karlon Quiller proved to be the difference maker in this contest as he caught a 30-yard touchdown strike from Marlinn Waiters to tie the game up at 27.

Late in the final stanza, Quiller caught his fourth touchdown of the game to give Scranton a 34-27 victory over Delaware Valley.

Tonight’s contest was one of only two match ups in the state of Pennsylvania between two undefeated teams (the other was Bellwood Antis vs. Northern Bedford).

The Knights improve to 8-0 as they have now defeated Delaware Valley two years in a row.

The Warriors had topped Scranton in their previous seven meetings before last year’s 51-21 setback.

Next week, Scranton will take on Wallenpaupack while Delaware Valley (7-1) will travel to Scranton Prep for a Saturday afternoon encounter with Scranton Prep.
