Five years ago, Dunmore played for the state championship. Following tonight’s 40-19 victory over Bellwood-Antis, the Bucks are heading back.

The two teams were tied at 13 late in the second quarter; however, Dunmore outscored Bellwood-Antis 27-6 in the final twenty-six minutes to make their way back to Chocolatetown.

The Bucks junior running back Daiqwon Buckley scored four touchdowns as Austin Seamon crossed the goal line twice.

Dunmore will try to break a recent trend. Since Berwick’s last state title in 1997, District 2 has accounted for just two appearances in the championship game. Neither Riverside (2010) or Dunmore (2007) were able to take the crown.

The Bucks (14-1) will take on the mighty Clairton Bears (15-0) in next week’s match up. Clairton knocked off Port Allegany 44-6 tonight. The Bears hold the nation’s longest win streak which is now at 62. Coach Tom Nola’s group is the defending three-time Class A champs. Clairton is attempting to become just the third school to win four straight titles (Berwick, 1994-97 and Southern Columbia, 2002-06).
