  1. players of the year. From catasauqua: QB- Zack Bradley(set school record for receiving yards and TD passes, 1st team all Morning call area, 1st team all league) RB- Ra’Von Burton (over 1600 yds rushing, 1st team all league, 1st team all morning call area). 2. @Jay, was the Daily Local News article published after the state championship game? If so, I’m guessing the writer watched the game and saw Hunt give up on his team in the 1st quarter. That doesn’t take away from his body of work for the season, of course. Everybody watching saw the coaches trying to get him to stop stomping around and acting like a spoiled child that didn’t get the GI Joe he wanted for his birthday. Body language and attitude go a very long way. Just a guess, but it is something to think about.

  3. I am in complete agreement with @NothinButSports24/7’s six picks. All six of them are great, if not the best, candidates. But on that note, I have to point something out that has me completely dumbfounded.

The Daily Local News published their picks in today’s paper for First and Second Team All-Area Offense and Defense. Emmett Hunt didn’t make EITHER Team, NOR was he included in Honorable Mention! This was right next to an article named “Hunt’s storied season one to remember”, no less…

Kyle Lauletta (Downingtown East) was selected to the first-team, and Joe Viviano (Conestoga) was selected to the second-team. I understand how you can make a case for Lauletta for at least the second team, and Viviano did have some impressive stats, but come on! Hunt had a historic season where he led his team to the state championship game, and also had better stats than either Lauletta or Viviano – which was also true before Coatesville had more games played than Downingtown East and Conestoga.

Did anyone else catch this, or can someone help me understand the reasoning here? Maybe I’m missing something.

  4. Big School Coach of the Year: Joe Repshis, Abington Heights

Following a 3-7 record last year, he took his team to the Eastern state quarterfinal against Allentown Central Catholic, beat Berwick in District 2 championship game and finished with a 10-3 record.

Only losses in the regular season were against Scranton and Delaware Valley, the 2 best teams in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this year.

Excellent job by the coaching staff as a whole.

  5. Big School Coach of the Year: Matt Ortega Coatesville
Small School Coach of the Year : Bob Wolfrum Wyomissing

Big School Offensive POY : Emmitt Hunt QB Coatesville
Small School Offensive POY: Dave Williams Rb Imhoptep

Big School Defensive POY: Tyler Burke Jr. LB Coatesville
Small School Defensive POY: Alex Anzalone LB Wyomissing

If you guys had a special teams player of the year i’d vote for Dre Boggs/Coatesville for sure

Honorable Mention Offensive POY: Chris Jones WR Coatesville, Sean Coleman QB LaSalle, Dequan Worley Jr RB Coatesville, Nate Hall RB Neshaminy Kyle Lauletta QB Dtown East

Honorable Mention Defensive POY: Tom Spiteri LaSalle, Mike Boykin Jr DL Coatesville, Zaire Franklin Jr LB LaSalle

  6. Big School Coach of The Year: Ortega (Coatsville)

Big School Off Player of The Year: McDermott (ACC)

Big School Def Player of The Year: Spiteri (Lasalle)

Small School Coach of The Year: Wolfrum (Wyomissing)

Small School Off Player of The Year: Williams (Imhotep)

Small School Def Player of The Year: Anzalone (Wyomissing)

Some others deserving consideration (I think Dave only chooses Eastern PA players and Coaches that is why I have no Western PA players or Coaches)

    Coaches:
    Cupples – ACC
    Crosby – Imhotep
    Olsommer- Del Val
    Devlin – Wood

    Off Player:
    Elder – Parkland
    Schorr – Del Val
    Coleman – Lasalle
    Quiller – Scranton
    Lemelle – McDevitt
    Lauletta – Downingtown East

    Def Player:
    Issah – Central Dauphin
    Joraskie – Mount Carmel
    Franklin – Lasalle
    Burke – Coatsville

  7. Big school offense, Will Fuller Roman Catholic
Big School defense, John Reid St Joes Prep
    Big school coach, North Allagheny
Small school offense, Eerin Young Imhotep
Small school defense, Alex Alzaone Wyomissing
    Small school coach, Wyomissing

  8. Small School coach – Bob Wolfrum Wyomissing
Big School coach – Matt Ortega Coatesville
Small School MVP Offense- Tyler Boyd Clairton
Big School MVP Offense – Emmit Smith Coatesville

  9. Small School Offensive POY: Tyler Boyd, Clairton; small School Defensive POY: Brandon Smith, Lewisburg; Small School Coach of the Year: Clairton coach

  10. I would certainly think Bob Wolfrum of Wyomissing would deserve some consideration in big schools. The only Eastern victor in the championships, an undefeated season over an undefeated opponent, the first state championship for the school and Berks County. A quality program and body of work over his many years leading the Spartans.

  11. Matt Ortega from Coatesville would be my pick for Coach of the Year. Best team would probably go to Clariton. Four straight championships? You’re just lucky if you win one.

  12. Big School Offensive MVP: Emmit Smith QB Coatesville
Defensive MVP: Tom Spiteri DL LaSalle
    Coach: Ortega Coatesville

Small School Offensive MVP: David Williams Imhotep
    Defensive: Alex Anzalone Wyomissing
    Coach: Wyomissing
