POTTSVILLE – Wednesday night, the Pottsville Area School District Board of Directors unanimously hired Tom McGeoy.
McGeoy replaces long time head football coach Kevin Keating who coached the Tide for 24 years.
McGeoy has been a assistant coach for eight years at Pottsville. “I started with the linebackers and the last four years I was the defensive back coach,” said McGeoy. “I am also the JV basketball coach and I have one year of coaching at Lehigh University.”
“I played for Keating at Pottsville and he was my neighbor and I have been very close to him for a long time,” said McGeoy. “He was my coach for three years playing varsity football.”
McGeoy was an All-League linebacker at Lehigh University from 2000-03. He started three years there at linebacker.
McGeoy is a Social Studies teacher at the middle school.
He takes over a team that finished 2-8.
