We have some other kids battling for the other returning positions. Cameron Ott is our long snapper. My punter is Alex Erb. I have two soccer players that will be at the kicker position. They are Devin Marriot and Jim McMahon. Jim is the kickoff guy and Devin is our field goal guy. Devin is very accurate. Jim will be our long field goal kicker. He has a strong leg.”

Coaches comments:

Who’s returning on the offensive line?

“We will start at tight end. We have returning Derrick Evans. Anther guy that will get a lot of playing time at tight end is Wyatt Entz. Everyone across the line is a returning starter. At left tackle is Cody Chilcot. At left guard is Lucas Shaheen. Our center is Mike Signor. At right guard is Tom Williams and right tackle is Ben Cerney. We have lot’s of experience on the line.”

How about your quarterback?

“Griffin Dunne returns at quarterback. He was third on my team in rushing last year. He runs the ball quite a bit out of the shotgun position.”

Note: In nine games Dunne had 767 total yards and seven touchdowns.

How does your running attack look?

“The only back we have returning is Carmon Ott. There is a kid that came out this year as a senior, he is Alec Rothrock. He didn’t play last year and has had a nice spring. Our fullback is Ethan Jones. Aidan Plants and Matt Shea will see some playing time.”

How do your receivers look?

“We have Alex Erb back at receiver. We are going to move a kid this year to the slot position. He is Curtis Miller. He can play either split end or slot for us. We are hoping Chris Scanlon steps up this year.”

How’s your defensive line?

“We really try to rotate players as much as we can. Defensively we are going to play eight guys on the line. At defensive end we are going to play Tom Williams, Wyatt Entz, Nick Conklin and Holden Lodge. Those four guys will rotate at end. Inside at nose guard and tackle we are going to have Cody Chilcot, Conner Bassett, Timmy Ungard and Ben Cerney. We also will have the Phillip twins, Vincent and Dominick. They can play inside or outside.”

How’s your linebackers look?

“We have some good young kids from last year. One of them is a freshman that started last year. He is Logan Mekeag. In the middle is Ethan Jones. He is a returning starter but got hurt last year. He played only three or four games before the injury. Kyle Lynch is going to play inside. We also have Derrick Evans, Matt Shae, Tristian Bailey will see action this year. One kid that is our center is going to play a lot at linebacker. He is Mike Signor. We have a few other young players we are looking at. But, we will rotate the best five players in.”

How’s your secondary?

“We are extremely excited about our secondary. Are two safeties are division one kids. They are Alex Erb and Cameron Ott. Our two corners are back, Griffin Dunne and Curtis Miller. They both are All-Conference at the corner position. We are looking at some young guys to get some playing time.”

Note: Erb led the team in tackles with 105. He had 62 solo tackles, one fumble recovery and three interceptions last season.

What do you tell the kids to prepare them?

“We need to stay within our self. We need to go week-to-week. It’s such a grind week-in and week-out. I think we are strong enough and talented enough that if we do what we do and get good at what we do, I think we can compete with any team we play. I tell the kids we aren’t going to surprise anyone this year. They need to be prepared each week and It will be a grind.”
