vinceweek52013Following three consecutive losses, Hanover notched their first victory since week one as they handed Northwest their first loss, 20-14. The Hawkeyes improved to 2-3.

Hanover’s defense held the Rangers’ standout running back Austin Mazonkey to under 100-yards on the ground. Coach Ron Hummer’s squad got on the board first on a Stephen Morgan catch in the end zone from sophomore Jacob Peters.

Entering the contest, Northwest’s opponents had just a 2-14 record. Despite the lack of yards gained, Mazonkey still rushed for a touchdown and did his part on defense by intercepting Peters once.

Prior to the match up, Northwest had defeated the Hawkeyes in their last two meetings by an average score of 38-20.5.

Next week, Hanover (2-4) will square off against Meyers. Northwest (4-1) will look to get back on the winning track when they head to Nanticoke.
