Week 5 notes:

Mahanoy Area QB, Dylan Mahmod upped his District leading rushing totals with his 136 yards and 3 scores against Minersville.  Mahmod now has 1,069 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns.  He’s also thrown for 444 yards and 5 td’s.

Pine Grove’s Ryan Heim rushed for over 200 yards again last week and now has 935 yards for the season.  Heim also went over 2,000 yards for his career as the Cardinals are now 5-0.  Phil Vass of Bangor returned to the line-up and rushed for 106 yards and 2 td’s in a win over Wilson.  Vass went over 2,000 yards in his career and now has 2,090.  Vass is 81 yards behind Rodney Heard for 3rd place all-time at Bangor.  Heard had 2,171 yards rushing from 1996-98.  Catasauqua senior, Ra’Von Burton rushed for 158 yards and 2 td’s vs Saucon Valley to up his season totals to 860 yards rushing and 12 td’s.  Burton joined the “3,000 yard” career club and now has 3,083 yards.  That’s good enough for 2nd place at Catasauqua.  This season, Burton has moved by Kyle Defranceschi, Chris Gerhard, Robert Delgado, Rick Gemmel, Devin Malarchik, Nate Pendry and Ethan Pendry on the Rough Rider all-time rushing list.  In the same game, Nick Savant of Saucon Valley ran for a school record 289 yards and scored 4 td’s.  Savant broke his own record of 282 yards that he set vs Perkiomen Valley last year.  Savant now has 2,127 yards for his career, which places him in 8th place all-time at the school.  Sean Spengler (2002-05) sits in 7th place with 2,152 yards, 25 yards ahead of Savant.  Jordan Gray of Nazareth joined the “3,000 yard” club for rushing yards.  Gray now has 3,029 yards moving him into 2nd place all-time at Nazareth.  Mark Madson had 3,017 yards rushing in his career from 1990-92.  Jim Thorpe’s Ryan Saunders rushed for 185 yards and 2 td’s vs Shenandoah Valley and now has 694 yards on the season.  Nate Farber rushed for 205 yards to help Northern Lehigh win their first game of the season.  William Casella of Schuylkill Haven rushed for 265 yards and scored 6 td’s in a 41-15 win over Panther Valley.  Casella, a junior now has 769 yards rushing and 12 td’s for the season and 30 td’s for his career.  The 6 td’s falls one short of the school record of 7.  Zach Barket scored 7 times vs North Schuylkill in 2008.  Niko Petrone of ESS now has 2,992 career rushing yards.  Will Quiles of ESN now has 1,596 career rushing yards and moves into 3rd place at the school.  Quiles moved by Brendan Woods (1,468 yards) and Everett Alers (1,452 yards).  Kareem Williams of Parkland went over 1,000 yards for his career (1,148).  Joe Maso of Phillipsburg has rushed for 514 yards in their first 3 games.  NOTE: Mahmod is 2nd in the State with his 1,069 yards and is the State leader with 18 td’s.

Sr. Zack Bradley of Catasauqua threw for 289 yards and 3 scores to up his season totals to 971 yards and 14 td passes.  Bradley joined the “3000 yard” career passing yardage club with 3,191 yards and moved into 2nd place all-time at Catty.  Jordy Miller had 3,157 yards from 2000-02.  Stephen Sedesse of Williams Valley threw for 183 yards and 3 td passes to help the Vikings go to 5-0.  Sedesse leads the District with 1,035 yards and 16 td passes.  Sedesse is now only 1 td pass behind the school career record of 42 held by Cole Ciesnolevicz.  Ciesnolevicz threw 42 td passes from 1997-00 before moving on to Bucknell University.  Shenandoah Valley’s sophomore qb Ian McCole has thrown for 305 and 241 yards in the last 2 games.  McCole now has 730 yards passing for the season.  Brandon Leap of Pleasant Valley threw for 147 yards against Wyomissing last week before being injured in the second quarter.  Leap is now 1 yard behind school record holder Trevor Micklos.  Micklos threw for 3,473 yards in his career (1996-99).  Shane Graspy of Blue Mountain and Kordell Theadford of Notre Dame need 95 and 100 yards respectfully to reach 2,000 yards in their careers.  NOTE: Sedesse is still 9th with his yardage and 4th in td passes in the State.
