Records are meant to be broken and in this family they are doing just that. In 2011 Ty Edmond set the school single-game passing record of 281-yards against Palmerton. His little brother did just that. Junior Quarterback Travis Edmond threw for 296-yards against Notre Dame to set a new school record breaking his older brothers previous record.
“Travis is a two-year starter and his sophomore year he almost broke his brothers single-season passing record. He missed it by 10 yards and he passed for almost 1,600 yards,” said head football coach John Toman.
“This past weekend, Travis went over 1,000 yards passing for the year.” Travis passed for 141-yards and two touchdowns to help lead his team to a impressive 59-6 win over Wilson Area.
Travis missed some games this season with a right shoulder injury. “He played the first two and a quarter games. He got hurt in the second quarter of the Bangor game. Than he set out and played the one drive against Pen Argyl and than played the whole games against Notre Dame and Wilson last weekend.”
He is completing over 60% of his passes. “He throws the ball extremely well on the run in our spread wing-T offense. He’s smart out there and we allow him to call plays.”
His main target this year is senior wide receiver Jake Del Priore. He is leading District 11 in receptions going into last week. He is now the Spartan’s all-time reception yardage leader. Del Priore’s 1,746 career receiving yards broke Jeff Smillie’s record of 1,674 yards.
This past weekend against Wilson Area Del Priore broke another school record of 116 career receptions held by Smillie. “He just caught his 117th career reception this past weekend. He’s 13 catches away of breaking the Colonial League record held by Wilson Area’s Adam Thomas, 129.
Going into week 7 Jake was leading District 11 in receptions with 32 and fifth in reception yards with 422. “He has been averaging about 5 or 6 catches per game.”
Also kicker Collin Johnston’s eight extra points give him 32 for the season breaking the old mark of 31 that was held by Mike Wagner in 2011
