Week 8 notes:

RUSHING: Pine Grove’s Ryan Heim extends his District 11 rushing lead after rushing for 201 yards and 3 td’s last week.  Heim scored a 4th td on an interception return and now has 1,527 yards rushing and 21 touchdowns on the season.  That moves him past Josh Himmelberger (1,455 in 2010) into 5th place at the school for a single season.  Heim’s 21 td’s is one behind District 11 leader Dylan Mahmod of Mahanoy Area.  Jryl Davis of Bangor threw for a touchdown and scored 5 td’s vs Northern Lehigh.  The 5 td’s scored, ties a school record held jointly by Mike Smith (1997) and Scott LaValva (2009).  Saquon Barkley of Whitehall scored 3 different ways vs Emmaus.  Barkley, who now has 20 td’s, scored on a 1 yard run, 11 yard pass and a 60 yard interception.  Kareem Williams of Parkland had over 200 yards rushing (218) for the 2nd time this year and now has 20 career td’s.  Sophomore Austyn Borre of Pleasant Valley and junior Shane Simpson of Easton both went over 2,000 yards rushing for their career.  Nick Savant of Saucon Valley now has 2,580 yards for his career which places him in 5th place all-time at the school moving by Bill Binzcak who had 2,354 yards from 2002-04.  QB Hunter Harner of Tri-Valley (7-1) now has 1,114 yards rushing and a total of 17 td’s this year.  Christian Gretzinger of Palisades became the 7th Pirate to rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season.  Gretzinger’s 19 td’s this year ties him with Bryan Hahn (2005) for 3rd place at the school.  Fourteen players have now gone over 1,000 yards.  Four current players are just missing being on the chart.  Will Quiles of ESN (1,620 yards) is injured, Kereem Williams (1,584 yards), Shakur Lester (Dieruff) has 1,550 yards and Devyn Papa of PME had 1,530 yards before the year but isn’t running the ball this year.  Eli Redmond of Parkland was knocked off the chart by Gerald Douglas of Stroudsburg who now has 1,635 career yards.  NOTE: Ryan Heim is 6th in the State with his 1,527 yards.  Mahmod is tied for 3rd in the State with his 22 td’s.

PASSING: Catasauqua’s Zack Bradley is now the District 11 leader with 1,357 yards and 21 td passes.  Ian McCole of Shenandoah Valley is in second place with 1,345 yards and Dieruff’s Chris Marks is a close third with 1,335 yards.  Bradley is now 196 yards and 2 td passes behind career school record holder Barry Kennedy.  Kennedy had 3,773 yards passing and 54 td passes from 1973-76.  Pleasant Valley’s Brandon Leap did not attempt a pass vs Allen and Williams Valley qb Stephen Sedesse did not complete a pass (0-5) in the Vikings 18-6 win.  Jeff Charles of Whitehall, Shane Graspy of Blue Mountain, Kordell Theadford of Notre Dame and Tre Jordan of Pius X all went over 1000 yards passing last week.  Theadford, Bradley Wilkins of Easton and Nate Edmonds of Tamaqua all went over 2,000 yards passing for their careers.  Spencer King and Justin Albert of Nazareth have both thrown for over 200 yards in a game, 3 times.  King in games 1, 2 and 3.  Albert in games 5, 7 and 8.  King has 812 yards passing for the year and Albert has 886 yards.

RECEIVING: Jacob Del Priore of Southern Lehigh leads the District active players with 44 receptions this season and 124 career receptions.  Del Priore’s 44 catches and 605 yards this year places him in 4th place in both categories at the school.  KJ Williams of Liberty caught 3 passes for 78 yards and a td to push his career totals to 123 receptions for 2,120 yards and 27 td’s.  KJ’s yardage puts him in 9th place all-time in the District.  Paryss Marshall of Catasauqua now has 82 catches for 1,632 yards and 27 td receptions for his career.  Marshall is now Catty’s all-time reception yardage leader and moves to within 4 catches of head coach Tom Falzone’s school record.  Marshall’s 27 td receptions ties him with KJ Williams and Pine Grove’s Larry Zimmerman.  Zimmerman’s (2009-11) official career totals are 104 receptions for 1,900 yards and 27 td’s.  RJ Sarajian of PM East has 558 receiving yards this year.  That’s good enough for 5th place at the school, moving him ahead of Jim Pinciotti who had 548 yards in 1981.  Ryan Beville of Central Catholic went over 1,000 yards receiving for his career.  Cody Miller of Williams Valley did not play again and sits at 24 catches for 649 yards and 12 td passes.  That enabled Marshall to take the lead in the District with his 657 yards.  Matt Tuerk of Nazareth and Marshall are 2nd and 3rd in the District with 37 and 34 catches respectfully.  NOTE: Miller is tied for 4th in the State with his 12 td catches.

THE PAST AND THE PRESENT:  “Papa” Jack Bambary rushed for 914 yards (5 td’s) and caught 17 passes for 183 yards during his Wilson career (1982-84).  Twenty five years later, son Zack would play for Easton (2009-10) and rack up 885 rushing yards and 15 td’s, while catching 14 passes for another 160 yards.  And now, son and brother Kyle (in the same backfield as Shane Simpson) has quietly rushed for 1,070 yards and 15 td’s in his career (2011-13.  Kyle also caught 4 passes for 45 yards in his career enabling him to be “the king” of the Bambary household.  Kyle now has 1,115 total yards of offense, followed by his father Jack with 1,097 yards and brother Zack with 1,045 yards.  Kyle needs one more touchdown to break the tie with Zack, as they both have 15 career td’s.
