Last weekend, Wellsboro defeated North Penn 42-6 and finished the regular season with an undefeated record of 10-0, breaking the previous record of nine wins in 1995.
In that game, wide receiver Brandon Owlett set two records. He now holds the record of yards gained in a season, 1,022 and he set the single-season touchdown record at receiver with 17 touchdowns.
Wellsboro’s offense has been clicking all season and is averaging 45.9 points per game going into the District 4 Class A playoffs.
One of the big reasons for their success is Junior Quarterback Michael Pietropola. He has completed 100 of 154 passes for 2,510 yards and 37 touchdowns and only three interceptions.
Wellsboro is averaging 434 yards per game on offense and has given up 147.8 yards per game on defense and one more impressive stat this season. They have outscored their opponents in the first half, 359 to 55.
This Friday night they play South Williamsport (9-1).
