Selinsgrove
The Selinsgrove defense allowed only one first down in the first half and went on to a 41-0 shutout win. It was the first opening night win since 2006.
The Seals best drive came in the third quarter when Cameron Benner capped a nine-play drive for 66-yards. He had a 2-yard touchdown run.
Selinsgrove travels to play Mifflinburg.
Montoursvile
Montoursville didn’t allow an offensive touchdown and went on to a 28-7 win. Cody Haupt ran for 208 yards and three touchdowns.
The Warriors defense held Mifflinburg to just 131 yards and forced three turnovers. Senior linebacker Josh Albert made 12 tackles, ½ sack and recovered a fumble.
Montoursville 1-0 travels to play 1-0 Southern Columbia.
Southern Columbia
Southern Columbia ran past Shamokin 21-7. Southern Columbia jumped out early 14-0 on touchdown runs of 75 and 24 yards by Jake Morton, who finished the game with 144 yards on eight carries. Late in the second quarter Shamokin’s Jared Haddock scored on a five-yard rollout with 2:46 left. Shamokin trailed 14-7. Tyrell Thomas’ 12-yard touchdown run for the Tigers with 2:34 remaining in the game gave the Tigers 21-7 lead.
Southern Columbia host Montoursville next week.
Towanda
On a wild night Towanda pulled out a 35-34 thrilling overtime victory over North Penn (4). In overtime both teams scored touchdowns, Travis Chelsa of Towanda blocked the extra point to give his team the victory.
Towanda plays Sayre next week.
