Bloomsburg
The first two offensive drives the Panthers netted 122 yards and two touchdowns. The Panthers defense held the Mounties to minus four yards and no first downs on their first two drives.
In the first half the Panthers quarterback Blake Rankin completed 9 of 11 passes for 173 yards.
South Williamsport didn’t pickup a first down until late in the third quarter. Bloomsburg went on for the convincing win 48-14.
The Panthers finished with 469 yards of total offense.
Bloomsburg (2-0) travels to take on Montoursville (2-0) next week.
Towanda
The only mistake Towanda made all night was when Sayre’s Rob Rought took back an interception in the game for the 47-yard touchdown. The Redskins led 7-0.
After the interception the Black Knights scored 42 unanswered points in a 42-7 win over Sayre Friday night.
Travis Chesla rushed for 117 yards and quarterback Dakota Roof was 3 of 7 for 34 yards passing and he had 81 yards rushing.
Towanda’s defense held Sayre for 57 total yards of offense.
Towanda plays at Troy Area next week.
Montoursville
Quarterback Travis Singer’s 53-yard touchdown pass to Cody Haupt gave Montoursville (2-0) the win over Southern Columbia 28-20.
With the win by the Warriors, head coach Him Bergen gets his 198th win.
Montoursville’s defense held Southern Columbia to 149 yards rushing.
Singer passed for 133 yards and two touchdowns. Haupt rushed for 127 yards on 24 carries and two touchdowns.
Montoursville hosts 2-0 Bloomsburg next week.
Mount Carmel
The Red Tornadoes made lots of big plays and went on for the 33-6 win at the Silver Bowl. This is the fourteen straight year they keep the coal bucket.
The Red Tornado defense recovered two fumbles.
Jared Pellowski carried 16 times for 95 yards and two touchdowns.
Mount Carmel (1-1) plays at Shikellamy next week.
