ASTON: Heading into Friday’s night non league match up against former Del Val League rival Sun Valley one could understand if the Knights of Academy Park came into the game sluggish after all the Vanguards had the advantage of having a day to rest before coming back to work while the visiting Knights had to do without that luxury as Mother Nature forced the Knights to move their game that was schedule for last Friday night game against the Kennet Blue Demons to Monday night. Well the Knights didn’t show any ill effect from that as they walked away from Dr. Wally Field with a 31-0 victory to move them to 3-0 on the young season. “It was real difficult a lot of starters were sore Tuesday and even Thursday our starters were sore it makes for practice very hard.” Is how Knights head coach Jason Vosheski would describe the unique situation that his team was put in. QB Brain McDonald echoed his coaches statement saying “its difficult because all the starters were sore hurt and we didn’t really have enough time to let our bodies adapt.”

On their first drive of the game the Knights looked as if they had the benefit of the normal rest as they drove 75 yards on nine plays before McDonald hooked up with Carol Coleman for a 23 yard touchdown pass.

From their the Knights defense led by Corey Jackson and McDonald took and in doing so looked like the Steel Curtain defense holding the Vanguards to under 100 yards of total offense

The next Knight score McDonald would his mobility to push the ball in from 8 yards. McDonald would finish the game 8 of 10 passing for 113 yards passing and added 30 yards on the ground. After game Vosheski had nothing but praise for his QB saying “ I cant say enough, Brain just makes plays.” When asked bout his teams effort tonight “ Im proud of the defense and defensive coordinator Charles Buecheler we got the shut out, offensively I think we were a little sluggish in the first half.”

The Knights would add to their lead when Taron Mitchell plunged his way in from a yard out.

The Knights defense would get board when Jackson intercepted John Wellbrock Jackson would do the rest as he returned it for the 27-yard touchdown intercepted.

Sophomore Demetre Carter would cap the scoring with his 45-yard touchdown run in which he showed how electric he is.

Up next for the Knights is a date with Octorara Area next Saturday while the Vanguard will travel to the Haverford School next Friday afternoon at 4 pm
