Don’t look now, but Riverside is ready to rock and roll some District 2 “A” competition.  Moving down from “AA,” where the Vikings lambasted Dunmore during the regular season, to “A” with the likes of Lackawanna Trail and Old Forge only spells trouble for the competition.  And, keep in mind that in 13 games, this Riverside team scored 479 points, an average of 36.8 points per game.  Will this edition of Riverside make some history and become the latest District 2 team to score 500 points or more?

  1. PA was not at full strength shows how much knowledge you have of district 2. I am gunna let this go and I will call you with the records after tomarrow buddy ole pal.

  2. Impressing the Hanover crowd wasn’t the goal of the scrimmage. Seeing what all the young kids can do was. RV has no JV team this year!

  3. Im not bragging in any way im just stating from what i saw at the scrimmage… If riverside didnt want to play in the scrimmage then they shouldnt have shown up but i will agree klabon didnt play and he is definately a game changer…it just wasnt very impressive thats all…

  4. Riverside vs Hanover scrimmage…Klebon didn’t play, Sochovka saw limited play, several lineman played limited. Don’t brag, the defensive backs aren’t the starting defensive backs!

  5. And do you really think that Dunmore showed all that they have or played all of their top players extensively. Again, you guys who take these scrimmages too seriously always end up looking bad when the regular season starts. These are scrimmages, they do not count. Just like 2 or 3 years ago when A Marian Catholic outplayed AAAA Easton in a scrimmage and Marian Catholic got bounced early in the playoffs and Easton advanced to the state playoffs. I recall a number of people touting MC after that scrimmage and questioning Easton being outplayed by an A team. It was only a scrimmage. It didn’t count.

In scrimmages, many teams use different players and/or combinations of players, try different plays, run vanilla schemes/plays, and usually use a lot of underclassmen. But what you see from many of these teams is much different what you will see when the regular season starts.

  6. Johnny only programs who don’t know how to win keep track of winning a scrimmage. We all know Jack, he makes the Bucks look bad on purpose during the final scrimmage. No one wins a scrimmage.

    P.S. I’m noy your friend.

  7. Hey Mr. Gomes who really cares about a scrimmage call me on Aug 29th when it starts for real.I will bet you that the overhyped Bucks will have a better record than PA it won’t be even close.

  8. PA was missing FB, TE, linebacker, and QB so we can do this all day and you dont think Pa ran a base offense boy you must outside your mind

  9. Scrimmage? Scrimmages don’t count. Every year we see teams do well in scrimmages who then go on to only win a few games. In scrimmages, many teams will use different players so that they can evaluate them. Scrimmages are totally different from an actual game.

When the actual game is played you see only the best players on every play.

Riverside and Dunmore are the real deal this year. As long as they stay healthy and don’t become overconfident they are both poised for potential deep playoff runs.

  10. LOL… “lost” in a scrimage. Next, teams are going to be losing in practices. I don’t Dunmore has ever won a scrimmage. It’s half JV kids playing a base defense and about 5 offensive plays.

  11. Riverside will run deep into the playoffs. They have speed, some size, oh yea and Joe Klebon. After this year the whole state will know about Klebon. An absolute animal. Dunmore…overhyped? Call it what u must of last years season but they still made it. The pads do the talking and apparently they did enough to go to the state title. Against Pittston Area Dunmore was missing 2 linemen there running back linebacker strong safety and Miller Holmes and J.J. Dempsey threw and caught passes at will against Pittston

  12. Was it me or did Dunmore beat Riverside 40-14 in the AA District Final. Riverside should eat up A, and Dunmore overhyped?? Johnny you must be an idiot. Dunmore is a top 3 AA team in the State.

  13. I think hanover will be a sleeper pick since they played riverside really tough… Hanovers defense really didnt give up much against riverside… it ended up a tight scrimmage with colorusso basically picking apart the riverside defensive backs in the passing game…i wasnt very impressed with the hanover run game though…

  14. Riverside should be an exciting team. They return all their skill players that ran by the likes of Lakeland,Old Forge, Dunmore, and Wyoming Area last year. When they win, they will win big. Speed kills…..See you in Hershey Johnny!!!!

  15. West Scranton is good team which Riverside will lose-Dunmore is over hyped even going to state finals last year and they will beat Riverside-Lakeland alright their good but they will beat Riverside-Valley view is not a good team-honesdale i dont know anything about them because they are way out there-Old Forge is a very easy win for Riverside

  16. mr gomes, please do your homework – west scranton aaa – dunmore aa – lakeland aa – honesdale aaa – valley view aa – play only 1 class a team (their long time rival old forge)
