benweek132015The season came to an end for both the Cardinal O’Hara Lions and Malvern Prep Friars Wednesday night.

Thanksgiving Eve at Cardinal O’Hara got started with a bang for both teams. The Friars received the opening kickoff and drove to the O’Hara 28. Then, QB Nick Maras handed the ball of to RB O’Shaan Allison who cut left towards the sideline. Allison pitched it back to WR Quinn McCahon for the reverse. As McCahon ran from Lions defenders in the backfield he threw it deep and found WR Chris Brown in the end zone for the opening score. McCahon went on to also catch a TD pass in the third quarter.

The O’Hara Lions answered the trick play TD right away. The first play of their opening drive was a 64 yard rushing TD by RB Myles Henderson. Henderson found a hole and ran untouched down the field for the score.

The Friars got the ball back only to give it right back up. The Friars’ RB standout O’Shaan Allison fumbled and the Lions took over. The MP defense stopped the Lions however and the MP offense never looked back.

O’Shaan Allison put the turnover behind him and responded. He scored a touchdown on four straight Malvern drives. Allison finished with 209 yards from scrimmage and 4 total touchdowns. All other Malvern stats attached below.

“I started off slow in the beginning with that fumble,” Allison said. “I was a little frustrated, but I bounced back and came back stronger later on in the quarter, giving it my best every play.”

Allison credited his success to his offensive line.

The MP defense stymied the Lions offense after Henderson’s 64 yard score. The Lions only had one first down in the first half and were picked off once by Malvern DB Brian Boyle. Multiple big stops were made by Friars Pat Finley, Riley Ammerman, Dan Sullivan, and Rashon Lusane.

Senior Malvern WR Chris Brown (6 receptions, 70 yards, 1 TD) played in his last high school game with his fellow seniors. “It was a huge way to end our football career,” Brown said. “I love all [the Malvern] seniors.”

Allison who will be looking to repeat this year’s success in 2016 as a junior said he is going to “work hard in the off season, to get faster and stronger each day.”
