HUGHESVILLE – Hughesville Junior quarterback DJ Foresome threw four touchdowns to lead the Spartans over Bloomsburg 41-0 on a rainy Friday night.
The offensive line gave Foresome time to throw all night. He completed 7 of 10 passes for 141 yards. At one point in the game Foresome completed five consecutive passes, including three for a touchdown, one to Levi Olden and two to Bryce Pardoe.
Hughesville head coach Rick Reichner said, “We saw some things on tape and we thought we could take advantage of it.”
Pardoe finished the game with three touchdown catches of 28, 3 and 28 yards. This was his second game this season with three touchdown receptions. Olden had the other touchdown catch that went for 14 yards.
Pardoe and Oden caught all seven passes that Foresome threw.
The Spartans had their running game going too. Ethan Showers rushed for 150 yards on 23 carries including a 73-yard run. Showers filled in for injured Cody Butler and Andy Laychur.
Butler played only a limited time. His 69-yard run set up the Spartans’ fourth score of the half. He rushed for 90 yards. Hughesville had a total of 284 yards.
On this rainy night Bloomsburg never got their offense going. Blake Rankin completed just 2 of 15 passes for 29 yards.
On defense Olden got his seventh interception of the season. All night he shadowed Bloomsburg’s top receiver Charles Franklin. He held him to zero catches.
Hughesville‘s Levi Olden said, “That was our game plan for me to be on Franklin and to shut him down the best as I could.”
Hughesville went on to the 41-0 win over Bloomsburg. Hughesville (7-1) travels next Friday night to South Williamsport and Bloomsburg (5-3) hosts Lewisburg.
