Week No. 14 action lets us know that only two weeks remain in this exciting 2009 High School Football campaign. The winners are moving forward to a possible date in Hershey for the coveted State Title.
In A action, hats off to District 11 TRI-VALLEY with an exciting win over highly regarded SOUTHERN COLUMBIA out of District 4. The Tigers of SOUTHERN COLUMBIA are always a good bet for the State Finals and potential gold medal. This year, however, things will be different as the Bulldogs of TRI-VALLEY are moving on with an exciting victory on Friday night at Pottsville High School. Their opponent for next Week No. 15 in the Eastern Finals is BISHOP McCOURT, who will prove to be a formidable foe with an impressive season to date and many close finishes in years past. Either way, the East is sure to have a worthy representative in Hershey for Week No. 16 and a newcomer to the Finals for sure.
In AA action, it was WEST CATHOLIC out of District 12 advancing with a win over NORTH SCHUYLKILL on Saturday. The Burrs will be looking to get back to Hershey having finished as Runner up to eventual champion, WILMINGTON. Their opponent is another Catholic high school, namely LANCASTER CATHOLIC of District 3, who handled LOYALSOCK on Saturday as well. Again, the East should have a fine representative from these two premiere programs in AA competition. WEST CATHOLIC was a Finalist one year ago, while LANCASTER CATHOLIC has come close in recent years.
In AAA action, SELINSGROVE continues to impress by downing ALLENTOWN CENTRAL CATHOLIC on Friday night. The Seals have come up short in recent years, losing only to eventual State Champions, THOMAS JEFFERSON and FRANKLIN. This year SELINSGROVE is making a strong statement for the gold medal.
In AAAA action, CUMBERLAND VALLEY, out of District 3 is advancing to the Eastern Finals.
Good Luck to all teams in the upcoming Eastern and Western Finals in Week No. 15. The winners of course secure a date in Hershey for the weekend of Dec. 18-19.
See You On The Sidelines!
