2017 Outlook: With 8 returning starters on defense and 8 on offense the expectations in Cove are high. Coming off a 2-8 campaign the Blackhawks are looking to continue to rebuild and find themselves in a very competitive league race come October. Trent McGuire is back to lead the ‘Hawks on both sides of the ball. Conner McGuire and John Provenza are two names to keep an eye on as impact players for the young Blackhawks.
Offense: Will neeed to fill in the vacant shoes of Dane Barrick at Quarterback. Look for So. Antonio Garcia to transform into that role. 4 returning starters up front, Lead by Provenza (John) and Blose (Brandon) will pave the way for McGuire (Trent) and the duo of Stump (John) and Amick (Russ).
Defense: The two inside backers return from a defense that has continued to be solid for two years. David Cornelious had over 100 tackles. Look for McGuire (Conner) to be tops in the league. SS Trent McGuire will play many different positions. Garcia (Antonio) will slide to one of the CB spots and look for a newcomer to fill the other vacant spot. Fr. Austin Kenny will get looks at both ILB and OLB as he begins his career as a Blackhawk.
Special Teams: A vocal point of camp. Need to replace two-year starter. Both the kicking/punting duties will need addressed.
