KINGSTON- It’s roughly about a two hour drive from the Peddie School in New Jersey to Wyoming Seminary. The Falcons made sure it was not going to be a wasted trip, as they scored early and often to overwhelm the host school 62-0 at Nesbitt Memorial Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Peddie School found the end zone five times in the first quarter and the rout was on. Christopher Chukwuneke got the scoring started with a 25-yard run just five plays into the contest. The defense forced a Blue knight punt. QB Allen Walters connected with Maurice Bellan from 38 yards out. Bellan was on the receiving end of another Walters pass this time from 36 yards. The defense got in on the action following a Sem drive as LB Javar Garret picked off a pass and took it to the house from 35 yards out. Chukwuneke took it in from 18 yards out to close the quarter with the Falcons up 35-0.

Wyoming Seminary was out-gained 502 to10. The Falcons had 17 first downs compared to just one for the home team. Wilson completed 17 of 22 passes for 337 yards and five TD’s. Bellan caught five passes for 129 yards and 2 scores.

“In this kind of game, you look to the little details to correct. We had some penalties at inopportune times that nullified some big plays for us that we need to clean up going forward,” Peddie coach Chris Malleo stated. “Don’t get me wrong. I am happy with how we played today. We just have to improve each week with the little things,” he concluded.

The second quarter was no better for the Blue Knights to slow down the spread offense of the Falcons. Walters found one of his other weapons, Julian Leslie, for a 43-yard score midway through the quarter. WR Marilyn Johnson got in the action hauling in a 38-yard pass to paydirt. Peddie closed out the half with an eight-yard fade route with eight seconds left on the clock, this one went to Johnson. The score at half was 56-0.

Not only was the mercy rule invoked to start the second half, but also the quarters were cut to eight minutes. With that said, Peddie scored once more as Bellan ripped off a 69-yard jaunt.

Peddie 1-1 will host St. Joseph’s of Ottawa next Saturday afternoon. Wyoming Seminary 1-1 will host another New Jersey school, Blair Academy 1-0 who defeated Haverford School 4-21 Saturday.
