District II Notable NFL Draftees
The National Football League has landed a number of talented players from the northeastern part of the Keystone state over the years. In the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton region of the state, the game of football met such names as the Ismails, Munchak and Trippi. Charlie Trippi was not only a three-time All-Pro selection of the Chicago Cardinals but he is also enshrined in both the College Football Hall of Fame, as well as, the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
At the end of Mike Munchak’s brilliant football career he was honored by being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The former Penn State bruising guard was a nine-time Pro Bowl choice. Number 63 will go down in history as one of the best offensive linemen not only of the 1980s but of all-time.
