Entering the first round of Districts, the Rollers had a 8-2 record. They had maybe the toughest Class 1A schedule in the state as eight of the 10 teams they faced were Class 3A or bigger teams.
The Rollers, a two-time PIAA State Champion, were set to be led by one of their own.
“As a lifelong roller, I have had the opportunity to play as well as coach multiple state championship teams over the years,” said Head Football Coach Andrew Erby. “With that being said, this particular season has had the most impact on me for multiple reasons. First and foremost, my hat goes off to our kids. They were able to battle through more adversity this season then I ever thought would be possible.”
By playing a tougher schedule, they beat Fairfield, Wyalusing Area and Williams Valley on the way to the PIAA Class 1A Semi-Final game against Homer-Center.
Erby’s Rollers won their second straight District 3 title and 12th overall. This is his second EasternPAFootball.com Coach of the Year award.
