SLATINGTON – Before going out with a injury, West Catholic’s Zaire Hart-Hawkins threw two first quarter touchdown passes to Seth Degree pacing the Burrs to a 21-3 win over Dunmore Saturday afternoon at Northern Lehigh’s Bulldog Stadium. With the win, West Catholic will move on and take on the winner of the Richland vs. Ligonier Valley game.
The Burrs started quickly down the field. On the team’s first possession, quarterback Zaire Hart-Hawkins connected with Seth Degree for an 11-yard touchdown pass with 9:17 in the first quarter. This combination wasn’t done in the first quarter. Hart-Hawkins went to Degree again, this time with a 59-yard touchdown. The Burrs led 14-0 with 3:09 left in the first quarter.
The celebration would be short-lived. Hart-Hawkins was injured on the touchdown throw. The Burrs seemed to struggle after the injury in the first half. Right before halftime, Dunmore got on the board with a Peyton Badyrka, 33-yard field goal with 6.1 seconds left in the first half.
Late in the fourth quarter, the Burrs added a late touchdown on a Jacir Savoy nine-yard touchdown run with 4:52 remaining in the game. The touchdown was setup by a long pass from Tre Johnson to Julio Dasilva.
