Wilkes-Barre GAR 28 Lakeland 7

GAR got some redemption tonight in their contest against Lakeland (2-1). The Grenadiers lost last November in the district playoffs, 26-21, but that would not be the case tonight. GAR (3-0) made a resounding statement by defeating the Chiefs.

The Grenadier first-year head coach Paul Wiedlich, Jr. handed Lakeland their first loss against Wyoming Valley Conference opposition in the last nine games.

Lakeland’s Tyler Brady scampered in to cut the score to 14-7. Brady finished the night with 58 rushing yards on 11 carries. Chiefs’ other runner Al Tuzze led the team in rushing with 92 yards. However, GAR’s tandem of quarterback Darrell Crawford and stud running back Kurtis Thomas were too much. Both scored two touchdowns a piece. Crawford led the way with 168 yards on the ground while Thomas had 136 stripes. GAR wins, 28-7.

GAR will be back in action next Saturday when the Grenadiers host Northwest. Lakeland will try and get back on track when they welcome Susquehanna Community on Friday.
